Where did the term "School Out West" originate?

Dude I lived Gator football then, too. I also grew up in the midwest, heard the stupid Suckeyes saying "SUN" all the time and cringed the first time I heard CUM say it at UF. Not original at all.

So, are you saying that’s proof SOS never said it?

As mentioned above Woody Hayes was famous for calling Michigan "that school up north". Woody Hayes is Urban Meyer's hero so when Meyer came to Florida he called FSU "that school out west". When Dan Mullen went to Mississippi State he began referring to Ole Miss as "that school up north". He got that from Urban Meyer. That didn't go over too well. It's an old Woody Hayes thing. It's as old as the hills.

SOW was way too subtle for SOS. He went after rivals verbally the way he did their secondary. Free Shoes U, can't spell Citrus without UT. At the jugular.

And as I mentioned above, SOS likely borrowed the phrase from woody. I wasn’t previously aware of that detail in the posu/meeshegan rivalry. I’m still absolutely certain SOS mentioned the “SOW” in the early 90s.

I can’t believe it took 5 pages for someone to give the correct answer, which is Urban Meyer brought that tradition with him from Woody Hayes, who was his mentor. He also brought other traditions like rival logoed urinal cakes in the urinals during those game weeks, making players learn the words to not only the alma mater but also the the fight song (I never knew it had words until Urban), Gator walk, and bloody Tuesday practices. National championship trophies were also a great tradition brought by the much maligned Urban Meyer.

I don’t get the Meyer hate. Gave me a lot of good memories. And I don’t care what swonkey says - that 05-08 offense was fun.

Exactly, imagine if Foley had hired one of his Foley specials like Zook, Muschamp, or Mac instead of Meyer. Urbs may have a few questionable character traits, but we should be grateful that we had him.

If it weren't for Machen, we probably would have had another Foley special.

05 and 06 sucked.

07 and 08 was great.

09 and 10, back to suck.
dont know how anyone disagrees with this. The first two years the offense was pretty ho hum. We won with great d and st. Tebows soph and jr year were great, but his senior year we were back to defense and the freaking dive play over and over again and then got embarrassed once we played a top team in atl. Brantley 1.0 was an epic disaster.

Poor memories? Just reflex antagonism?
How do people "remember" that SOS said SOW/SUN?

BTW, I think 08 and 09 wouldnt have been TERRIBLE with our current backfield. You just cant pound the middle with changeup scatback smurfs.
