Grier thinks his arm is strong, best QB in draft

I think he’s a Favre type QB. True gunslinger. Will be interesting to see how he develops. That idiot Mac cutting him lose was the second dumbest thing he did at Florida behind making up death threats.

Disagree. THE dumbest thing he did was cutting Grier loose for a couple of reasons:

1. Don’t chase off a better player (especially at QB) because he’s not “your guy.” That’s beyond stupid. Play your best players. Period. You might even extend your paycheck an extra year or two. This applies assuming the death threat allegations were false.

2. I believe the allegations were true. Why? I’m glad you asked... There’s easily enough members of Gatorchatter alone who not only make the allegations believable (you know who you are), but to successfully carry out the threat even if GPD was coordinating with FBI and US Marshals to guard mac’s house. And that’s why he didn’t lose much of his buyout.

I think it’s pretty obvious Grier is only HALF the QB that Fouts was. Exactly half...

I get the quick release and proper mechanics judgement from our "experts" here.. Somebody please tell me, without being there, how you can judge arm strength. I think you've gotta be there up close and personal to make that judgement. And just stating the obvious, closing speed of dbs in college is not the same as closing speed in the NFL. I'm not saying he doesn't have it. I'm just asking how in hell do we know.

it's pretty easy, arm strength doesn't matter at all. if arm strength mattered then Montana would have never won a game.

Accuracy, quick release and a quick mind is all that matters. He will rule in the NFL if his head or injuries dont screw it up.

Comparing him to Dan Fouts is a bit premature. Fouts is one of the best QBs ever.

I hate that he never found his footing at UF, but if I was to compare his Style, it would be closer to Favre. His play invites a lot of risk wouldn’t risk that’s not necessary. Difference was that Brett Favre’s arm could get him out of a lot of situations. We will see if he has the arm strength to do that in the NFL.

Full disclosure....the post was just making light of the fact both have beards :lol2:...I have my doubts about him being successful in the NFL....It's just a different game. Hell even Tebow failed to make it in the NFL....

Drew Brees doesn't have a world beating strong arm. He's wickedly smart and accurate and has a fast release.

First paycheck??? Certainly you don't think he transferred to WVU for the education....even they have a bag man :lol2:
I don't know. Maybe. I'm sure they get cars and free stuff but it isn't Trailerbammer, no doubt. You can see by the way the players live up there.

It is strangely a party paradise though. There's never been much more for those country girls to do than screw.

Kinda obvious that arm strength isn't everything. Montana is the poster boy for that. The point was that Grier says his is great and some of us piled on with yes it is. We don't really know. What we probably do know is that he has the other tangibles. At some point a noddle arm is not enough. You just can't get it there fast enough. And evaluaters being who they are will factor that in, right or wrong.

I like Grier, I think he will do fine in the NFL as long as he plays behind a good OL. No skill set makes up for a bad OL.

It will be his intangible red flags such as getting himself suspended then quitting his team at WVU which will cost him.
You didn't read the article.

Grier received some criticism for skipping West Virginia’s bowl game to begin preparations for the NFL Draft. For this, he provided an explanation.

“I actually tore my ankle up in the Texas game,” he said. “Didn’t really put that out to the media. But it was pretty rough the last few games. And Dana (Holgoresen) and I sat down. I was planning on playing for about a week. I was getting treatment and preparing to play and me and Dana sat down and he thought it was best to get Jack Allison some reps. And get some younger guys some reps in the bowl game. He knew how important it was for me to get healthy and chase my dream.”
