No he didnt. This was Machen's guy whatever way they want to spin it.

I don't give him much credit for that either even though it was a pretty obvious choice unless you were bringing Spurrier back and he would have done it on his own probably but Machen made it 100% clear who was making that decision and who the hire was going to be.

Picking him and closing him are two different things.

Didn't several people tell Urban that UF was the better gig? Are you trying to tell me that selling UF is difficult? Come on...

And...didn't ND low ball him?

I know this has been discussed at nauseum but Foley screwed up Zook and stuck with Mussy too long. Meyer was a slam dunk and hopefully Mac will be the same. Foley is one of th top AD's in all of sports and if he were fired 98% of D1 schools would line up to grab him.

Back on Mac, I think he will win if he recruits well. In an article I read he was mentioned as an underrated recruiter while at Bama.

Foley did a hell of a job closing the deal, stiff arming one of Meyer's "dream jobs", Notre Dame.

Machen himself has dispelled this popular myth. But don't let that get in your way.

Meyer did great things at Florida and we should be grateful. He tried to mentor those guys the best way he could. I'm sure there is a reason why Tebow and Hernadez were roommates...

True. He did some things right. But he made some horrendous mistakes too. The "Ring of Honor" and the covering up of multiple failed drug tests did little to aid in positive mentoring. In fact, it most likely undermined any positive effect he was trying to procure.

You have become absolutely insufferable! Give it a rest. You are becoming the new lawgator, suspiciously negative and relentlessly anti-everyone and everything Florida. Move the hell on and stop trying sew fake seeds of discontent.

You are right, UF sells itself. That is why all the big names are jumping at a chance to coach at this school.

Uhhhh...we offered more money...lol... so many people pimp us as having all these huge built in advantages but now we are going to down play them? We gave him more money and he had a better chance to win at UF. The guy is smarter than you guys are giving him credit and our school.

Should there be any cause for concern that there has not been an announcement yet? I cannot decide if this is normal, or if there may be some buyout issues going on with CSU.

This was my whole point about Freeze. If we are are going to go cheao, we will get cheap.

Because Freeze in your opinion is one of the top 5 coaches in the nation? What has he truly proven?

Sorry but you are a way better poster than this...the Tier 1 guys are entrenched at their current jobs or want to stay in the NFL. That's not an indictment of UF but of the circumstances.

My guess is he will be strutted out here in Gainesville tomorrow or Friday at the latest.

Doesn't matter. The beat marches on. The facts, even coming from Machen himself mean nothing. It doesn't fit their narrative.
