Is Brady or Belichick most responsible for the Pats success?

Obviously, the two are great together. Not even up for debate. However, if the Pats had to let one of the two go, which would be easier to lose with the least amount of drop off in results? Could Belichick have the same success with another QB like Rogers or Brees or someone else? Would Brady win multiple Super Bowls playing in Dallas or Green Bay?

As a Browns fan I want to say that the Patriots would have been better with just Brady over just Belichick. Lol

Honestly I don’t think that Brady would have the success without BB...but the thing is ppl are always naming QBs they think are better than Brady so I think the coach is the gas and the QB he has is the pedal that determines the speed they travel...Dungy was great but if TB woulda kept him his roster won that title in 03

They are equally important like the wheels on a motorcycle. Remove either one and you go nowhere.

It's a good question that I don't have an answer for. It reminds me of the Vince Lombardi - Bart Starr relationship when the Packers ran off a string of consecutive NFL Championships

All QBs need great coaching to be successful, including the GOAT himself. But great coaches also need great QBs to fulfill their plan for the team. I don't think either would have 6 superbowls without the other, but I do think Belichick would win more without Brady than Brady would win without Belichick. One reason I think this is because defense wins championships, and Belichick consistently fields good defenses.

I agree with JB. The hallmark of the Patriots over the years is that they play very solid, team oriented football. They may not have 6 Super Bowl wins without Brady, but they would have some for sure.

Put Brady on the Jags or Browns and I think he has zero rings.

To further reinforce your point, Belichek chooses his staff and they develop players pretty well. He seems to recognize talent where others haven't.

Matt Cassel couldn’t even start in college at usc. Won 10 games when Brady went down. Got traded and now he’s nowhere to be seen. It’s the coach and system. Brady just happens to be a really good QB running one of the best systems.

I’d say Darwinism is dead for 65% of the planet unless you’re completely retarded or unlucky...but honestly the fact that he maintains a 35-50% white personnel offense is insane

I think Brady is certainly in the GOAT conversation but I also think he wouldn't be there without BB's influence(Coaching). BB is also in the GOAT coaching conversation and would probably be there without Brady.

Who knows.....:dunno:

This seems right. Brady only had one season of a truly astonishing NFL offense and they didn't win it all (though 19-1 is pretty amazing). Usually, it was the whole of the team winning super bowls for the Patriots. Whether it was the first championship, or this one, it was rarely Brady dominating the competition. The whole stole the show, most often led by the defense. Where Brady did seem to excel, and perhaps shine more, was in the AFC Championship games.

Even his 4 TD game against Seattle, had 2 picks. The comeback against the Falcons occurred after an 82 yard pick six. There are more examples, where Brady has always been good, but not so dominant to carry the team.

Belicheck has brought the team with him most often. The best Patriot offenses seemed to be those in the 10 year stretch of not winning the title. The Giants upset being the biggest.

Clearly Brady is great, if not mostly for his unbelievable consistency and rare key mistakes. But, even other great QB's don't go on this type of run, with such substantial roster turnover, if the guy leading the ship isn't the greatest ever.
