I don't think there is any way we get bumped out of the top 10 in either Rivals or the Composite now. If Penn State gets Cross later that would put as at # 10 in Rivals and no lower than 10th in the composite.

I don't understand how any big time recruit can look closely at the Auburn situation and not acknowledge that Malzahn is facing a very insecure future. It seems apparent that at least some of the fan base and big time boosters want him gone. Unless he pulls a stellar season out of his hat I would think he is on a short leash. But it looks like plenty of elite players have either ignored or overlooked his tenuous coaching status.

Just another on the list of "things in life I don't understand".
Good post. I've wondered the same thing myself. He isn't really showing anything to combat Bama with and is having a hard time staying on par with the also ran's of the West if you ask me....I'm not seeing any championships coming there under his watch.

Their is another way to consider how the 2019 class helps UF, particularly if you believe UF's roster needs rebuilding. This is certainly arguably true after having 2 transition classes in the past 5 years. In such a case a team needs to add as many talented players as possible. More "blue chip" players might be preferred to a higher rank.

UF signed 17 five and four star players according the 247 consensus rankings. Of course as everyone here knows, they are all ranked 4 star by the 247sports consensus. In those same rankings only 3 programs, the two at the top and one ranked lower than UF signed more blue chip prospects.

Yet another way to look at the number 17 is that in December and today UF added blue chip players amounting 20% of its 85 cap to the roster. So in the last two months UF add 20% of the 85 cap in new blue chip players.

Great post and analysis. Thanks for that input/perspective.

Thanks I made a slight change as I typed "as many" when I meant more blue chip guys. Someone, I think UTx also signed 17 such players. Still only 3 programs added more than 17 blue chip guys to their roster.

We're at #8 according to Rivals, at #9 on the scout composite and at ESPN. This NOT a mediocre class by any reasonable definition. Perfect? No. A strong class we can build on? Absolutely. And now that the dead weight (recruiting-wise) has been pruned a bit, we should do really well in 2020 and 2021.

Mullen is laying a nice foundation. We have a long ways to go though. There’s so much turnover that needs to take place.

Exactly. We're a young team, too. It looks to me that we'll be pretty darn good in 2019, and downright dangerous after we fill in a few gaps and needs with the 2020 class. That's assuming player development, particularly at qb, continues at the same or similar level it did this past season.

do we have any spots left? we have room for braun right??

UF will find room for him and Reese too, if he is a grad transfer. Don't worry about that. I have UF at 87 right now. So 4 need to leave to take two more transfers and I am very confident that will happen.

So what was up with Copeland saying something about a possible transfer?
