Muschamp's future at SC, brutal 2019 schedule

All my point was is that they can get someone better than chump and probably will at some point. I don't think that's hard to do. As far as SOS goes he had more success there then ever before. Doesn't mean they ever win it all. Just don't think chump is the best they can get.
They can hire at least a dozen guys better than Muschamp.

Look at Leach's record at both Texas Tech & Washington State and compare it to the historical records of both schools & get back to me.

Getting back to you now. And so you think he is just going to step in to USC with the track record of being average and get it done. The. Guy. Can't. Get. It. Done. He would get hammered in the SEC. He isn't anything great nor is he better than SOS.

Damn now that I think of it I’m back to being pissed at Meyer.

He stays til 2012 we easily win that title.

If Meyer stays, there is no doubt we were capable of beating anyone in 2012. As bad as they looked, both QBs he would've had at his disposal went on to have success elsewhere. Add that to Reed, MG, and that defense and yes, we could've won a title.

As for WM's defenses, they consistently declined as a) Meyer's players left and b) Quinn took another job.

He is a good DC but gets far too much praise.

Like who? You see ... this is a big thing about this board. Everyone swears this team or that team could do this or that but in reality, timing is everything. USC will never be able to get a solid football coach. It will always be a flashy guy with gimmicks and in debt coaches. The young up and coming guys like Frost or Herman will avoid a job like USC at all costs. There is nothing to gain at USC and a lot to lose. Realistically, who out there that could possibly be available at the end of next season could USC go get? While they could do better than chump, the reality is they will probably do a lot worse. And changing coaches would also put the program of learning new systems, recruits backing off and all the other stuff that comes with it. I would just prefer that happens. That is all I am saying.

Hope they get someone else soon. He is about as good as they can get and he understands the importance of recruiting Florida. Plus ... he has an axe to grind with us. I say this not in fear of what he can do to us, just in understanding that if they roll the dice on a new coach at the end of next season, it makes it better for us.

Don't forget where his/our 2015 recruiting class was when we was fired. We were in the triple digits. Not all that dissimilar to Taggart, recruits will only buy his message for so long, especially when other coaches can insinuate that his job is not secure(that clock starts ticking mid 2019). Once his "I was left nothing/building something/doing it the right way" pitch gets stale, and players, their families, and HS coaches start looking at the overall body of work, he will struggle in that regard as well.

And of course, in terms of gameday coaching, keep in mind that if not for Henderson literally just dropping the ball at the 2 on his pending pick-6, we maybe win that game in 2017. A team led by an interim head coach, completely dejected on life itself, with zero conditioning and a 3rd string QB was a play or two away from beating him at home last year. He is not a threat to us in any way. The guy's a chimp that shouldn't even be allowed near players. It's only unfortunate that he won't be there longer.

Look, I'm not saying USCe is making the playoffs with another coach. All I'm saying is that they would win more games, and be a bigger threat against ranked teams with other coaches than they are with Muschamp. My argument is that Muschamp is garbage, not that USCe is some sleeping giant.

I really think you give his replacement too much credit with your hyperbole vision. He has some traction with defensive recruits in the state of Florida.

That’s a stretch. The 2012 defense was one of our all time greatest
Outside of that year in which we were extremely loaded his defenses were ass. The numbers were skewed because teams usually shut their offense down in the 2nd half due to our terrible offense. I've never been overly impressed with him as a dc.

Which part was hyperbole?

And again, his traction will wear down with time. Usce fans were already upset this year when they felt it was them vs uga for the East. The fact that we've stepped back onto the scene as quickly as we have, relegating them to 3rd place at best, has them seriously frustrated. The moment his future becomes debatable, it's over. He simply cannot overcome that "adversity" and it's been proven.

My point is ... nobody is going to overcome that adversity. Coaches know that. Only ones who take a USC job are chumps. Their best chance for success is keep things stable. I would rather them be a 3-4yr fire and hire place.

I don't disagree on that element of your initial post. Their fans completely overlook the fact that they only had success and were a contender in the East during a handful of years that we had a zoned out Meyer or a complete moron head coach who is now their problem. And that window also coincided with back to back years of their state producing a #1 overall player, which they kept home. Not only will that not happen again, they'd have no chance of keeping them away from Clemson if it did.

I think many of them feel they will get back there, and will hold their coaches to that standard, right or wrong. So I've got no problem with their revolving door if that's what they in fact do. I'm just not concerned about WM at all.

I am not concerned with him either. But ... he does have an axe to grind with us and he has been in the game long enough to get lucky from time to time. Rather he just get washed out and welcome in the next dude with skeletons in the closet.

Mike Leach would never take the South Carolina job.

You serious, Clark? Do you not recall the history of piracy along the coastal region? SOS went for the golf courses, Leach would go for the history and pirates.

He's a chimp. He may get lucky on occasion, but he has the brain capacity of a medium aged golden retriever and will never be a thorn in the side of a competently coached UF team.

And yet ... those were not his players. Didn't he lose to.. ahem, Georgia Southern who had ZERO pass completions? I still dont know how he pulled that off.

@Swamp Donkey ... how do I always seem to end up in a discussion that puts me in a defense of chump role? I swear ... I was never a fan of him at any time. But somehow, even though I call him chump in this thread, I am defending him. What I am really doing is talking down USC, not talking up chump.
