I agree that losing Grantham might not be a big loss due to fact we have so much talent on the D side of the ball so very attractive to a potential candidate, but my concern is what the guys on The Tailgate Show on ESPNRadio Gainesville said on Monday afternoon which is if Grantham left he very well could possibly take CRob as they called CRob his "disciple". Everything I've read and heard is CRob is very well liked by all the players and incoming and future recruits. Yes, he's young and inexperienced, but I'm just afraid losing him will be a loss for now and in the future. Anyone have thoughts on this?

I agree. Although CRob is a dawg, he’s the only puppy I’d hate to lose.

Because the linebackers look so good this year?

#33 was good when he arrived. #11 was just as terrible, apparently totally unaware of gap assignments and not forced to learn. No one else appeared to get any better.

At his year end review, what evidence would you use to argue for retention even? Young and kids like him? obviously that's something, but the only thing I can think of the linebackers did well this year was blitz.

I'm sure I'm just jaded because he's a d w a g.

That being said, I doubt even Bungles will take a guy with 11 months experience, but I sure wouldnt miss him.

So you'd be happy to lose our best recruiter because of where he went to college? Or our best DC since 2012 because he coached at one of our rivals for a little while? Makes perfect sense. I for one hope we keep them both and I bet Mullen does as well.

I have to agree. At least for another season.

And in regards to MManuel possibly being a replacement as D-Coord...as a life long Falcon fan and season tix holder for close to 30 years, his D past 2 yrs in ATL was average albeit this past season affected by devastating injuries on the D-side. Mullen and Grantham recruited players for the 3-4 system and MM ran a 4-3 system. Beasley completely fell off the radar past 2 seasons after having breakout year in '16 and from pass rush to pass defense the Falcons were eaten alive often. Couple his lack of experience with zero recruiting experience and my opinion (means nothing I know) is he wouldn't be an upgrade. Name recognition and being an ex-Gator will not always equate to success in recruitment, development and play calling. I'd rather we open the checkbook for Grantham than lose him and bring in someone that isn't a fit.

Grantham is a good not great, not elite DC. With the talent rich grounds we have to recruit from, we should be able to attract someone. And honestly, Gray is our backup. I’d be perfectly fine promoting someone like Gray and then finding someone like Hardmon to coach LBs.

@RapSheet: Sources: The #Bengals have narrowed their defensive coordinator search to focus on #Florida DC Todd Grantham, and he’s back in the building this morning. The only question is, can the #Bengals and new coach Zac Taylor pull him away from UF.

Definitely agree with Law and Alky that if Grantham bolts promoting Gray makes the most sense.
The only downside with this is it almost surely keeps Ron on staff. I've wanted to bring Mike P back
for awhile now, but i'm not sure how he or Bam would fit into the staff with Robinson here , who we
need to keep on board.

I would like to keep him also, as a sign of stability, and consistency
