I realize a lot of us wanted him gone. However, it looks good for the Gator brand that our DC turned down the kneeling league to stay. Also, my guess is Grantham had a problem with having a head coach who is still in diapers.

I think Grantham is a good fit here. Going back to the 80s I think our defenses have always been better with an aggressive, blitz heavy gambling style. It fits our smaller but faster athletes better than getting ground down with the conservative bend but don't break philosophy. Yeah, we might get burned from time to time, but defensive kids really enjoy bringing the heat, top corners like playing man coverage, and at least we won't be spent in the fourth quarter. But for the most part, Grantham seems to me to have used controlled aggression rather than being reckless. In game I think he's done a pretty good job.

The problem with that is that when you're depending on CJ McWilliams to hold down the backside with Stiner and Taylor, the odds shift further against you. Also when you have Felipe at QB, let's just say a track meet is not where you want to be, especially with our slow starts.

Two things:

1. No way they are cheaper than us.

2. Maybe he realized Cincy is the gooch that connects Ohio and Kentucky.

We are paying him a cool 1.4 million a year, which is no chump change for a DC even in the NFL. He is also probably getting a raise out of this.

Can't blame the guy for not wanting to leave Gainesville. Plus, if the defense improves as expected next year, then he may get an offer from an NFL team that doesn't completely suck balls.

Disappointing.
I can hear the negative recruiting already.

Probably wanted the job but the Bengals undoubtedly low balled him, they are cheap as hell.
ESPN says it came down to family. Family likes it in Hogtown. Grantham pulled a Donovan and stayed.

This a good thing, I know he gives up an occasional big play but he also gets a ton of 3 and outs. Momentum is on our side and stability can only keep us moving forward. It also should keep our committed recruits in our next class happy.

Grantham could see to it that the parts to the team put vulnerable by the blitz be made stronger?

I bet he gets a raise out of this.
They already bumped him up to 1.8 a month or so ago. Either way his kid is at Buchholz as a junior ftb player and his daughter is a freshman there. Uprooting his kid from a Florida school to an Ohio school when he has d1 aspirations was probably 1 reason here
