Every time I hear Sammon or read his stuff, he is always speaking about Grantham tinkering or trying things out. I like that Grantham is being creative with the talent he has. But that can be a bad thing as well if the DC goes overboard with it. On offense, Sean Payton is brilliant at that. It got Mike Martz run out of the league.

Joseph is 6'4 220 and Griffis is 6'4+ 230....and they are juniors in HS. Unless they stop putting on weight after getting into an SEC S&C program they likely end up as SDE's at 260+. That's just my opinion, but we rarely see 16 year old's that size not gain a bunch of weight.

Most of these lighter DL guys in the 2020 class are going to redshirt (same w/ the 2019 kids, especially Summerall). So, I'm not going to sweat it until the 2021+ seasons. They are big, athletic, studs, and have great offer sheets. We just need some heavy DL's in this class and we're going to be fine along the DL. With the current transfer rules, I can see us plugging holes easily if there's a gap somewhere.

I get what you're saying, but look at our roster right now. We lose a much of our DL over the next two seasons. The 2018 class will be a problem in 2021 - we signed one Edge and one SDE. So we need the Edge/OLB/WDE guys too. Now let's get the heavy DL's (we have two committed). And yes, I think there are heavy DL's out there that will be available to transfer in - one of them is our starting DT. I agree that we shouldn't count on them, but the transfer rules have loosened and all they have to do is look at our roster to see there's openings/playing time.

It just mildly annoys me when we're ignoring a big 4star kid from apopka and chasing a bama commit from Alabama. There's too much talent in FL this year to be wasting time on that.
Well the Bama kid is incredibly talented but also massive and could be a true NT which we literally don’t even have. So, bad take. I’m also not doing the recruiting I’m just bringing it here.

Well, dude, I don't know what to tell you. Should we fire the whole staff and start over? It is what it is. I agree we should be getting the heavy's in this class, but I don't think they're purposely sabotaging the program either. We only have 8 commits....16 or more to go. We already have two heavy's. I think we'll be fine. Also, if Griffis grows into a SDE then we're only bringing in 2 WDE's in this class (if we get Williams).

I know and I love you for bringing the info. I can be impulsive sometimes.

Well the 65th rush defense is why so many of us wanted the Bengals to hire him away. Grantham is like those power hitters on teams back in the day, before all the steroid abuse. Sure they'd hit 30+ HR's a year, but they'd only hit for .225. Not a lot of guys back in the day that could hit .300+ and 30+, but the ones that did were special. Grantham isn't special and we just want someone who is.

I'm not sure what position Griffis will grow into, but I can guarantee he will be one of the strongest players on the team the day he steps on campus, if not the strongest.
