Let's project UF's 2019 record

Well last year the minimum acceptable number of wins for a UF coach was 10 in the regular season. The schedule ended up even easier than I imagined with the FSU collapse. Mullen failed to achieve that minimum number, but did win the bowl and had an offense that improved throughout the season. Thus most around here viewed last season as a success.

The 2019 schedule is:

Miami (in Orlando): W A neutral site game against a rookie head coach is one the right guy for UF will win.
UT-Martin: W
at UK: W Mullen can not afford to go 0-2 to UK
UTn: W Can't take UF's foot off their throat.
Towson: W
Auburn: W A home game against a team about to fire their coach must be won.
at LSU: L I guess, though really the right coach at UF should rarely if ever lose to Orgeron
at SoCar: W, UF's should never lose to SoCar that has less talent and inferior coaching.
UGa: L I guess though it is getting time for Mullen to beat them.
Vandy: W Can't lose this one at home.
at UMo: W Inferior talent and Mullen must provide the coaching to get his more talented team a W.
FSU: W Still a bad team.

This is a much tougher schedule than last year. Miami replaces a scheduled win. The string of LSU home games is over and UF must travel there. UF must go to Missouri late in the year and older fans like me will remember late year road games to UK being a problem.

I guess the must wins where UF has a clear talent edge are UT-Martin, at UK, Towson, at SoCar, Vandy and at UMo. The talent is pretty even with Miami, UTn, Auburn, at LSU, UGa, and FSU though some will argue one way or another about the small talent edges on these rosters. I will be disappointed if UF did not win the 3 home games of these and split the two neutral site games. That would again make me disappointed if UF comes away less than 10 regular season wins.

Feel like 10-2 but we always seem to find a way to lose to a team no one ever dreamed of. Going with another 9-3 and possible NY6

As the only poster who worries about the O-LINE, I think that I should withhold judgment until I get some handle on who is playing and how.
You're not the only one that's concerned about an entirely new Oline. Things could get really ugly. Especially for Franks.

The wild card is Franks. He did much better at end of the year but there were plenty of WTF moments throughout the year. If he excels, then 1-3 losses. If he fluctuates, then 3-5 losses (especially if EJ takes over).

I see the young DE’s, young LB’s and young DB’s with another season of development and Savage being ready to step in and surprise. We have been beat down with lack of development over the years to the point where we believe nobody can deliver for 3 or 4 years. No way to really know I guess until they step on the field.

1) Offensive line
2) Quarterback. Doesn't matter to me who wins; just make plays
3) Replace Gardner, Polite and Joseph on defense. Gardner will be toughest
4) Add two more impact linebackers
5) Continue to create turnovers
6) Relentless effort means every game, every series, every down, every second of every down
7) Beat UGA. It's time

Like others, I'm optimistic with a caveat or two. IF we nab either Braun or Reese and the OL comes together by the UT game, we should be fine on offense. If the LBs and safeties improve against the pass, we should be more than fine on defense. That scenario could bring a divisional championship. My best case guess is 12-2, worst case is around 10-3, maybe 9-4. Too many unknowns to be more specific at this point.

Of course he did. My point is that our LBs and safeties couldnt cover anyone, not just Nauta. Our corners will be fine but Ugly has other TEs and RBs to destroy us.
I think their next best TE transferred to Illinois. FWIW

I project fun and games at the expense of all of our rivals, which thankfully includes the hated Canes this season to kick off the festivities.
