We’re all aware of your passion for Butters (which is still thrashing inside you), but I didn’t know you were a big Zook nutswinger, too.

There are several members here that will defend guys like Zook to the death, and in the same damn breath trash Urban Meyer. It boggles the mind.
I recognize your tactic, Ox. It's called DARVO in law enforcement and legal circles - Deflect, Attack, Reverse Victim And Offender. It's typically used by sociopaths and child molesters when they feel threatened.

I'm very disappointed in you.

Same Fooley Suckers who say the last decade was "just bad luck" are the ones who try to pretend Zook was anything but a terrible hire.

UF was the victim and that Ohioan POS Fooley was the perpetrater.

I notice you didn't deny anything I said.

As far as that particular game all those years ago, I remember winning and being very happy we did so, but I don't think I remember one play from the damn game. Let's face it, calling it "Ron Zook Field" is certainly not considered a compliment to Zook, it's considered a major insult to FSU fans that that imbecile won that game on their field that special day. Had it been "Urban Meyer Field" it wouldn't have the same shattering impact as an insult.

Agreed in every respect. As far as not denying anything, I gave Butters a couple of years to meet the Gator Standard, but I wanted him gone by the end of the first quarter of the Michigan game. As an aside, I hated the Mullen hire, but couldn't be happier with the way that's played out, so far. As for Zook, I thought he recruited well for us, and I give him credit, as head coach at the time, for beating the nulls on the night they wanted to dedicate Bobby Bowden Field. Other than those two points, he pretty much crapped the bed.

He's not an Ohioan. He's an uppity, private-schooled New Hampshirite. We'll be discussing his rise and fall to infamy in a separate thread later in the day.

Ohio University equals Ohioan to me.

I'm surprised how many people don't know that he's not a Gator.

Why are you assuming a coach other than Zook during that time frame couldn’t have had as good or better recruiting classes? All Zook did was keep recruiting at where it’s supposed to be for UF, especially after the Spurrier era where the brand was the greatest in its history to that point.

Ah yes, I’ve fallen into the GC Fooley/Chimp/Zooker lovers/haters trap: say something even remotely and singularly positive about Fooley, Chump or Zooker and face the wrath of the mean girls. Just because I only despise these guys to the ninth power instead of the GC Inner Circle’s tenth power, I am therefore a Fooley/Chimp/Zooker “Lover”. Why, even toss out some bonus Byrd and Swamp Azz references.

I don't give a damn thing about Ron Zook other than that azz hat is gone.

Some of you just love every babbling moron that walks by.

He was incompetent every aspect of his job and every aspect of being a coordinator also.
Every aspect? Wouldn't that include recruiting? Right up there with Mac in your opinion.

Yes, thoroughly incompetent. Just as terrible on both sides of the ball and nothing special as a recruiter. All the recruiting BS was Fooley created bullshyt.

After the game Meyer said that Zook recruited 20 of 22 starters on that 2006 team.

That is a fact. It doesn't matter what some idiot going thru menopause thinks of the man.

Definitely give Zook credit for recruiting, although that gets a bit overstated as people try to overlook his shortcomings.

No way does Zook win more than 9 games with those same guys, though. To a man they all credit Meyer with transforming their lives.

Quite understandable. Stating that Zooker got us a cherished win at the Joke and recruited some nice pieces for Urb’s chessboard is “worshipping Fooley and Zookie”.

I’m such a puss...

Zookie was 18-38 in the Big 10.

He was fired from DC at several schools and demoted to position coach. He is an azzwipe in history of college coaches.

Like all of us he wasn’t a successful major college football coach.

Good man, though. Gave it what he had even if he fell short. He loved being a Gator coach even if he wasn’t good at it.

Good Lord, was this Pop Warner? He sure gave it his all, so he's a winner!

The guy was paid millions and was a miserable failure.
