That doesn't make sense to me... while on the same account, whenever we've had to report a card, it's just that one card, which have different numbers on them and are independent of one another even though on the same account. It's like that for all our accounts with cards.
Per my mother in law, the CC company said for her not to use her card. Can't say it was correct info or not; only what she told me.

Understood. I've always had them block just the associated card.

My favorite "fraud alert" credit card story? About 10 years ago, I had about a two week trip where I had been to Romania, Ukraine, Dubai, Afghanistan and Pakistan.... no problems whatsoever with my AMEX in any of those place (no credit cards for anything back then in Afghanistan). So, I get home and that night had to buy a new fridge online from Lowe's. Declined. Re-ran with Chase rewards card, no problem. AMEX texts me with suspected fraud alert. I called AMEX and ran through the transactions for the last two weeks and said, "But with all THOSE countries, the transaction you stopped was a fridge from Lowe's?!?!?!" They said, "Well, yeah, we know you go to those places, we didn't know about Lowe's."

PS wouldn't trade my Delta AMEX card for anything for piling up Delta skymiles and the other perks that come with it. The Chase card we have is great too... piles up rewards points that are straight up cash when booking flights/hotels. We also put everything on credit cards for rewards and then pay off. I even buy aviation spare parts on reward cards! ;)

All of my other cards have unique numbers for the additional cardholders. But my Chase cards each share the same number for each cardholder. It would make things easier if they used unique numbers, because my daughter has lost hers twice, and my wife has lost hers once. Each time we had to cancel the cards for everyone and wait for new cards.

But I love Chase Ultimate Rewards program. I need to post that into the rewards card thread.

Have your friends check the early withdrawal penalty on the 401k. If used for college you may can avoid the penalty.

We pool together. Both accountants. She pays the bills. We are both pretty tight. I max out my Simple IRA, she is close. House paid for. Vehicles paid for. Both are around 5 years old with 100k mles. We have never fought about money

Your house and cars are paid for and you can't spring for a supporting membership?

It's obvious that he looks for good value and invests his money there when he can find it.

My wife and I have separate accounts at the same bank, plus a joint account we use to exchange money between the other accounts. I pay all of the bills and she gives me a fixed amount every month.

I don't think our marriage would survive if we pooled our money together.

How did you determine what fixed amount she would give you?

I guess I understand it, it just seems like an employee/landlord situation instead of a marriage.

"It's the 15th of the month, dear. You owe me rent!"

I looked at her income and determined a reasonable amount she could afford to pay.

She just transfers money into the joint account sometime around the beginning of the month. We don't really ever talk about it.
