Yeah, good thing we ran Charlie Pell out of town on a rail before he had a chance to further screw up our program after his 0-10-1 year. The name of the game is to win. Pell had to go as there is no excuse to go winless in big time college sports.

Except it didn't happen that way. Pell wasn't run out of town on a rail until his rules violations caught up with him, and put together one of the best Gator football teams until Spurrier came along and bested him.
You love yourself some moral victories too, eh?

No, but I recognize that every loss doesn’t mean the team and coach all suck, and that the wins don’t have to be executed with pro-level precision in order to see that a team may be headed in the right direction or that a coach may be doing the best that he can with what he has to work with.

Why can't you and I be pals?

Also, what Mike White has to work with or not work with is all on him.

What Mike White has to work with is a function of his own recruiting and coaching. It's all on him.

An eyelash away from a final four in his third year was it? Took them to the dance this year with one small big , two seniors with yips and three freshman. Damned good coaching job. Injuries have killed us inside the last few years..........but I guess injuries are his fault.

PE is awesome. We've never had a coach he didn't blindly support no matter what. He was a Zook nutswinger, a Chimp lover to the max, and would have laid down in traffic for Butters. Whoever our garbage coach was in 0-10-1 certainly "tried his best" and hence should have received a trophy and contract extension.

If Satan himself was named the head coach of a Gator program, PE would be the first one to denounce his Christianity, just to support the guy.

Fun fact is BS, Norm Sloan also led Florida to 3 NCAA tournaments, same number as White.

I agree with you, though the 1987 and 1988 NCAA tourney appearances were erased from the record books due to Vernon Maxwell being declared ineligible in those years.

So no denial of my points.

You're like jboss. Boss comes out and says "I supported Mullen from day 1, b!tches!" Yet it rings hollow and has no substance behind it, because he would have supported ANYONE who was hired from day 1. Blind homerism no matter what.

The irritating part of your particular philosophy is you equate big-time college sports to Pee-Wee or Pop Warner, in that all that really matters is effort and teamwork, not winning. That isn't the name of the game once these players hit college, PE. They are big boys now, and winning is what matters.

Sure we can be pals, just don’t expect me to buy into your heavily dumper view in the name of “honesty”.

Look, I don’t view pumper vs dumper as a binary thing. I look at it more as a scale. I’m probably 60% or so pumper, 40% dumper. I’m a bit more likely to give a coach leeway than a 90% dumper like you and some others here

Gator Country is around 90% pumper. So is JBoss. You and Law are around 90% dumper. This board as a whole runs about 70% dumper, in my view.

It is interesting because in your effort to not be a pumper site like Gator Country, you drive this site towards being a dumper site. Folks with a view that leans positive are chastised, ridiculed, and beaten down. Many stop posting as a result, biasing this board further to the negative. Eventually the whole board becomes 90% dumper, and you become just like Gator Country, but with the opposite bias.

You rail on Gator Country for being intolerant of anything other than pumping. But yiu’re becoming equally intolerant of pumping.

Feel free to ban or dump on me now. I’m just being honest as I see it.

I think you have mental problems. First off, why would I ban you? Sober up.

I am also not a "90% dumper", and had you been around for a while you would know that. I'm certainly not very high on this particular basketball team, however. Pretty sure I'm not alone there.

Gatorchatter is what it is. The strong survive, the weak head off to Gator Country. However, Gator Country's intolerance includes BANNING those who aren't pumpers, and I'm not doing that.

The question is, why are you hanging around if it's so bad here?

Nope, no mental issues. I was kind of joking about the banning part because you joke about banning people all the time.

To the question of why I stay around, I'll reference a conversation that I had with my teen-aged daughter yesterday. She was a bit down, and after talking further, it was clear that being surrounded by negative people in her workplace and other aspects of her life was part of what was dragging her down. We talked about the importance of balance, having positivity in her life to gain a more even perspective. And I don't really see it as "so bad here", just annoying that dissenting opinions are personally chided, and ridiculed, rather than discussed on their merits.

I think you have a good thing going here at GC, and that it is the premier Gators message board, bar none. I like to be part of something that is the best. Ironically, I'm being called "weak" because I'm telling you that it could be even better.

I don't feel overwhelmingly positive about this basketball team, and believe the likelihood of them going 1-and-done in the tournament is about 50-50. But I do believe that it is important to recognize that guys who play with heart, like Hayes, who will never be an NBA player, is part of what makes college basketball great. Seeing Hayes, Nembhard, and Johnson peaking at the end of the season adds to the excitement for me. And believing that, at this point in the season, as Mike White keeps putting a team into a position to be able to win games, despite upperclassmen providing neither leadership nor scoring on a consistent basis, perhaps he is the right guy.

In a perfect world, it might be easy to say that what Mike White has for players is "all on him". But factor in multiple injuries to front line players, and the fact that many other teams are paying the precious few big men to come to their schools, and a few other factors, and it's more realistic to say that a variety of circumstances has given Mike White a steeper coaching hill to climb.

As far as "only the strong survive", it doesn't take a strong person to jump on the bandwagon, positive or negative. Holding on to less popular opinions, such as Marine does, takes a stronger person.

Whether or not we agree or choose to disagree on this topic, I'm a supporter of yours and believe we have far more that we agree on than on those points we disagree.

First, I have always believed that much of the negativity is contrived to generate more discussion. It’s not real in most cases. I play along and offer the balance. Where it is genuine dislike for our players, coaches or programs I personally feel they could be bandwagon fans....if we win a championship they will be amongst the loudest and most vocal. But if we don’t....well not so much.

In the end it is college sports. The best sports of all...Gator sports. I enjoy every minute of it. My family turns Gator sports into epic weekends. We plan our lives around Gator games....particularly football, basketball and baseball.

As far as being positive I know no other way. I have benefited by serving with and learning from some legendary leaders. I’m not talking solely about Marine leaders. I’ve never seen success sustained where negativity abounds. It’s a choice....I’ve been a Commanding Officer, CEO, Coach and Father. Positive works for me. Maybe not everyone is wired this way. To each his own.

Glad to have you on the board! Have fun with it. You have to have thick skin and the ability to laugh. In fact, the wit and downright genuine comedy on the board is worth it all.
