Not sure if anything has been posted other than the Billy Horschel thread, but the inaugural move back to March resulted in a great tournament. Sunday was one of the best rounds I have seen in a while with a dozen or so golfers with a chance to win. My family and I went down for Saturday's round and had a big time. Highlights were posting up at #8 and #17. Interestingly enough, two Auburn alums were in the spotlight at the two holes. Patton Kizzire pulled off a four putt on #17. With a front pin, Kizzire hit his tee shot to the fringe in the very back and failed to get his first putt over the hump and down to the level of the hole. From there, it was soiled linens. Jason Dufner was the first guy we saw birdie #8. Usually stoic, Dufner fist-pumped after sinking the delicate right to left breaking putt from above the cup and then yelled at the crowd "Up yours, Ox! This was for you!" :) We got to enjoy a light-hearted moment from Tiger and Kevin Na when both hit their tee shots on #17 to within three feet and then quickly snatched their tap-ins out of the cup. I'm not much of a Tiger fan, but he looked more human in that moment than ever.
Sunday's round, as mentioned, was great even though it was viewed from the recliner instead of in person. I like to watch Mcilroy as he has one of the best swings out there. But it was good to see Furyk play as well as he did. How in the heck he gets it back in the slot with that convoluted swing is beyond me! Rahm is pretty impressive, but until he gets his bull head under control, he'll continue to have moments like he did when he went against his caddie's recommendation and put his approach (from the sand) into the pond. Trying to play a 30 yard draw downwind from that lie was foolish. But moments like this are what makes golf fun to watch. I guess Rahm "Van deVeld'd" it?
All in all, a great tournament to watch. Not overly costly and pretty easy as a day trip if you don't live too far. This has become an annual thing for our bunch.
