IMO, only wishful bias projects EJ beating out Franks. At no point last year was EJ put in to bail out a Franks-led team. To me, what EJ showed was positive progress as that backup to replace Franks in the typical manner after Franks leaves. Hopefully Jalen can repeat the process in replacing EJ when he leaves in the usual progress for an established program. Just think what a smooth quick QB-program that is - surely a swift turnaround from our 10-year wandering in the QB desert?

So, Mullen-Johnson will advance Franks' skills into top SEC QB territory, while EJ takes advantage of breathing room to develop with calm, controlled, confident progress. So finally, UF has a solid QB program underway right away. It's all good.

EJ ceiling looks like it's higher than Franks. Jones has Mike Vick abilities. If he develops the right way, there won't be a question who gator fans want playing QB.

Exactly. Any improvement at any position is a good thing, but anyone who's written Franks off at this point because they believe he's reached his peak is out of his/her mind. The guy's just getting started.

Firstly, I love how the thread title keeps changing.

And B, for the opening game against UM I prefer to have an experienced QB behind an inexperienced OLine. After that, all bets are off.

Franks looks even more athletic than he did last year. Franks and Jones might be the two most athletic looking QBs we've ever had here. Two years in the strength program really paid off for Franks. I hope he runs some DBs over this year.

Because we finished strong, so many forget how many God-awful passes Franks threw last year. He was unwatchable as a QB for at least 40% of the year.
