Get used to it. This is where it’s at in these times. It was all predicted and expected for weeks so it shouldn’t be a bad look. They’re leaving because they are good enough to play.....but not good enough to play for us. Personally I liked all 3 but the handwriting was on the wall. Not enough minutes to go around. If they want significant PT it will have to be somewhere else.

Well a few things on this:

1. UF did not quite "suck" this year. A bid and 20 wins means White is no where near the hot seat, even with his poor roster management. I know UF was awful to watch, but such season will not get a coach fired right away.

2. I guess White has lots of confidence in his recruiting. That is my only explanation for why he was willing to essentially punt his first two classes this year. These transfers and I suspect Gak is next were clearly in the cards given the playing time the Frosh received and the incoming class.

3. Even if Gak goes, each player in White's plans for next year is still back. For ill or for good, White is developing his program his way. I think it has a lower ceiling than actually having and using bigs. It also might have a higher floor.

4. As I suggested earlier a rotation of:

G: Nembhard, Mann, Locke, Lewis and Johnson each playing about 30 minutes
P: Stokes, Payne each playing about 25 minutes

Is a 7 man rotation that takes up all 200 available minutes in a game. No room for injury in this case.

That’s a tough looking roster holding over with some freshman coming in to fill the holes.

We all miss Billy D. But it's time to move on. Mike White is here to stay. So Chin up Sonny boi. We have a Bunch of capable players coming back next season and one of the best incoming classes since when?
Thanks for the pep talk dad. I'm thrilled about the frosh and the incoming class. Hopefully high level talent makes MW raise his game.

I don't remember if I have posted this elsewhere yet this year, but this thread is also a good place to look at the players UF has coming rather than just highlight clips.

I think the most information comes from a high school player's production in top level AAU. Alternatively one could argue that for players at top high/prep schools their production playing in more structure with more coaching might give better information. Again I looked up AAU the averages of UF's three signees

Lewis played on the Under Armor circuit. His numbers were:

11 games, 10.5 points, 5.4 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 3.5 TOs, shooting 0.527 on 2s, 0.231 on 3s and 0.833 from the FT line

Team Rio (@teamriobk) - UAA 2018 - Roster - # - Scottie Lewis -

Mann played for a Nike EYBL last summer. His numbers were:

20 games, 17.3 points, 4.4 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 1.9, TOs shooting 0.514 on 2s, 0.376 on 3s and 0.790 from the FT line.

E1T1 United (@realE1T1) - 2018 NIKE EYBL - Roster - #1 - Tre Mann - G

So to me Mann does not appear to be a Locke level outside shooter. The counter argument is that he took a bunch of 3 point shots and made a Locke level percentage in his 5 peach jam (ie playoff) games, but his team lost all 5 of those games?

I am very unsure about Payne's numbers. Payne (or maybe Paynes) played on the Chandler Parson Addidas team. They show Omar Payne playing 1 game, but a Samuel Payne playing in 10 different games with the same uniform number. So I am not sure so take these with a grain of salt, but I combined the 11 games giving Payne numbers of:

11 games, 8.2 points, 5.5 rebounds, 0.82 assists, 1.0 TOs, shooting 0.649 on 2s, 0.0 on 3s (0-3) and 0.615 on FTs.

Team CP25 (@TeamCP25) - 2018 adidas Gauntlet - Roster - #5 - Samuel Payne -
Team CP25 (@TeamCP25) - 2018 adidas Gauntlet - Roster - #5 - Omar Payne - PF

So there is no real rebounding machine and possibly no a high percentage outside shooter in this group. Lewis is said to be a top level defender.

Are the other schools having this many transferring? I'm sure more guys at Duke are missing playing time.

There must be a plan...Ballard had not played in the last few games...Okaru was a situational sub...they must have been told to move on with what we had on the current team and what we have coming in. Stone is a bit of a head scratcher, but I understand. Gak is the outlier for next year...need him for depth/rebounding...not scoring.

That said, the plan must be getting at least 2 bigs...to contribute meaningful minutes...if not...I worry about next year.
