Are the other schools having this many transferring? I'm sure more guys at Duke are missing playing time.

White is killing their legs with running to extreme with little to zero reward.

I don't remember if I have posted this elsewhere yet this year, but this thread is also a good place to look at the players UF has coming rather than just highlight clips.

I think the most information comes from a high school player's production in top level AAU. Alternatively one could argue that for players at top high/prep schools their production playing in more structure with more coaching might give better information. Again I looked up AAU the averages of UF's three signees

Lewis played on the Under Armor circuit. His numbers were:

11 games, 10.5 points, 5.4 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 3.5 TOs, shooting 0.527 on 2s, 0.231 on 3s and 0.833 from the FT line

Team Rio (@teamriobk) - UAA 2018 - Roster - # - Scottie Lewis -

Mann played for a Nike EYBL last summer. His numbers were:

20 games, 17.3 points, 4.4 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 1.9, TOs shooting 0.514 on 2s, 0.376 on 3s and 0.790 from the FT line.

E1T1 United (@realE1T1) - 2018 NIKE EYBL - Roster - #1 - Tre Mann - G

So to me Mann does not appear to be a Locke level outside shooter. The counter argument is that he took a bunch of 3 point shots and made a Locke level percentage in his 5 peach jam (ie playoff) games, but his team lost all 5 of those games?

I am very unsure about Payne's numbers. Payne (or maybe Paynes) played on the Chandler Parson Addidas team. They show Omar Payne playing 1 game, but a Samuel Payne playing in 10 different games with the same uniform number. So I am not sure so take these with a grain of salt, but I combined the 11 games giving Payne numbers of:

11 games, 8.2 points, 5.5 rebounds, 0.82 assists, 1.0 TOs, shooting 0.649 on 2s, 0.0 on 3s (0-3) and 0.615 on FTs.

Team CP25 (@TeamCP25) - 2018 adidas Gauntlet - Roster - #5 - Samuel Payne -
Team CP25 (@TeamCP25) - 2018 adidas Gauntlet - Roster - #5 - Omar Payne - PF

So there is no real rebounding machine and possibly no a high percentage outside shooter in this group. Lewis is said to be a top level defender.

I never trust travel ball stats. Even HS stats are often sketchy. AAU is often like the wild, wild west. Stats are either overly inflated or diluted because of so much talent on the team. Also the parent or asst coach keeping them are not focused or accurate. Shot selection in AAU is also horrible.

From what I’ve seen, read and heard. Lewis attacks hard and can finish and is an elite defender. Mann can handle and shoot with range but gets a little trigger happy. Payne, from what little I’ve seen on tape, looks to be real smooth and comfortable around the basket but haven’t seen much range. Seems skinny to defend the post in the SEC but I haven’t seen enough to really know.

We haven't lost anybody worth a shiit because White hasn't recruited anybody worth a shiit.

1. I like the AAU stats compiled at these very public games on public websites. I am sure they are NOT without errors, but I think they are not bad.

2. I wonder if this past season UF had the lightest starting five in college basketball. I saw Payne listed at 195 lbs on one site, but I never trust weights much until UF measures a kid.

It’s not just unintentional errors that’s the problem. We used to film the games. Too often the stats a coach put out on a player would be way off when compared to the tape.

I do agree about Payne though. He’s going to need to fill out.

Stokes is extremely important for next years team and if he makes a commitment to get in shape and make himself better, he could be a real for for us next season. He has size, strength and skills around the basket and he could be a real impact player if he puts in the effort between now and November.

Not a good look. How many kids will we have on scholie next year?
It's a great look...we're cleaning out dead weight and if...and that's a big ****ing IF White can keep recruiting some stars like this incoming class then maybe he can right this ship. All 3 of these guys are not good enough...Stone was an ok bench guy but the others are being processed

White recruited them.

Players were good enough for White to chase down in recruiting and pop for scholarships ... but what if White is low in developing skills, then a higher % of "failed recruits" will occur. That type coach would be a threat to his own program. Best to have a system capable of developing even marginal players.

Remember Canyon Barry & Egor? How I wish we still had 'em.

...both of those guys were transfers, not players we developed. And even Donovan had a lot of guys transfer out.

The reality is: there's only a precious few amount of 5 stars out there and while Kentucky and Duke may get 4-6 of them in a mega-class...most other schools are lucky to get 1-2 in their classes. Everyone else (including FL) has to take 3 and 4 star guys and coach em up or hope they fit into the system. Donovan was brilliant at doing that; Mike White less so...but it shouldn't be a surprise when guys who aren't developing leave.

Okaru isn't going to take minutes off Nembhart or Locke or our incoming freshman; Ballard is a tweaner who isn't better than who we have or have coming in. Stone is really the only one we'll "miss" next year, as he played decent basketball and even started at times--plus he leaves when our numbers and depth down low are thin.

My point in that separate line was that we sure could use some good transfers like Barry & Egor.
And again it pops up = if you can develop players you make all you get better, even stars. That's what I want. That's what will always serve UF best. We need coaching development too. Grow Gators!

Right which is why I never bothered with them when that is how we got them. I am under the impression with this new system that started a few years back that these stats are kept at the game, not just put out by the coach of a player later.
