If Jitoboh's health and conditioning is in order, he'll play right away. He has a solid post game with a reliable jump hook. He has a soft touch. He isn't a project other than his weight needs to be monitored. He is more like Stokes in that he isn't a high flyer. He has to muscle people which he needs to get better at. This is a very nice get beating tinerc and Louisville.

I agree. Needs to turn that weight into muscle. Looks comfortable around the basket. Comfortable shooting off the glass. Pretty good instincts. Definitely eats up some space good technique rebounding.

We need size inside. Size, this kid definitely has. Excellent get for us. Between him and Gak, we look a lot better getting off the bus. Maybe Basset and Stokes can play the four against taller teams. We’re weak inside and teams took advantage of that all season. It’s a weakness only addressed by personnel. Now let’s go find us a team first, Power Forward over 6’7” who can rebound, defend and make layups.

He looks 4 inches taller than Stokes.

I'm referring to athleticism, not height. You know who Jitoboh could be? He can be Egbunu with better offense. Imagine him and Payne on the floor together. Remember how good Hayes and Egbunu were together? He'd have put up a lot better stats but the guards on that team don't know what passing is.

Jitoboh is a nice add and most likley will just be practice depth next season. He needs to lose weight and get in way better shape
He is 6'11" and probably close to 300 lbs. Needs to get way quicker for sure. Great project recruit though

No doubt, I think it's a great pickup. Stokes is very skilled with his foot work and nice moves and shot around the hoop, but he has a triple hit that limits his upside in my opinion; too short, can't jump high enough to make up for being undersized, and has weight issues. In the right conference as the featured player he could probably average 15 points a game, but the SEC has so much size and athleticism inside I think he will always struggle to be anything more than a guy you bring in off the bench for 10 minutes a night.

Jitoboh has a lot more upside (pun intended) due to being 4 inches closer to the rim. But foot injuries scare me when they are on 300 lb bigs because it's awfully hard to get them to fully heal with the kind of force they are under.

I just want a big dude to average about 8 points and 8 rebounds and 2 blocks a game. Is that too much to ask?

Recap of McDonald's HS All America Game:

Scottie Lewis, SF, Signed with Florida
While Lewis’ 10 points on 4 of 7 shooting won’t blow you away, it’s the impact he had on the defensive end that was especially impressive. Lewis totaled 4 steals, showing why he is the top defensive player in the 2019 class. Lewis’ size, length, athleticism, competitive approach to the defensive end, passing and slashing ability make him one of the most versatile prospects in the country.
Recruiting: Lewis is signed with Florida.

He couldn't grab 8 rebounds a game in hs

I hope this is right after he loses weight. Right now, in his highlight video, he gets off the floor like Barkley probably does about 10 years into retirement and plus 75 lbs.

But, you “can’t teach” size and he has that, both height and pretty broad stance/shoulders. So, if he loses weight, will it sufficiently increase his athleticism? I hope so and it seems like a good investment of our several open scholarships if you trust the work ethic to lose the weight.

He has effort issues and I don’t blame him. Those guards may feed him the ball only a handful of times. He knows he isn’t getting the ball so he doesn’t go all out. I watched one game where their opponent’s tallest player was 6’4. He got the ball once in the first half.

Any of our athletes can slash, if they set their mind to it. You just go ... you just work at it. Too much we exclude it from our options. (Now finishing with a basket was our too frequent disappointment.) However, letting inadequate attacks on the basket continue all season is a coaching shirk. When driving-in is properly practiced, you get fouled frequently. Getting foul shots (gotta make a high %) yields points, getting fouls called can hamper or eliminate the other team's best players. In our games box scores, it's 90% of the time that the opponent has a guy shooting 10 FTs. This team is/was harmed by what they didn't try to do. (They did not learn to use the glass to dampen their inside shots. They rolled it on the rim or clanged it on the rim. The blocker always fronts between shooter and rim.) Standing outside, bouncing it chest high emboldens the defense, gives them time to align their "prevent". Coaches should have transformed that out of their "style". It was a "I don't know what to do" signal - a back-off style.

The most valuable slashing occurs by many without the ball. That's what gets defenders colliding, stumble-chasing.
I hope these new stars coming in increase our energy, our "go-for-it" attitude. White doesn't seem a "go-for-it" coach.

Anyway, if the new stars are just the additions we're missing, then it will show by putting on a more varied attack, a more balanced attack. Always movement with a planned IQ purpose. We're all looking forward to it.

BTW, how are the newcomers at defensive play? Better overall BBall-IQ would help the good players we have.
So, Grow Gators ! Grow coaches !

I really hope he has excellent hands. Being from Nigeria perhaps he hasn't played basketball enough. Will he be a development project for the staff? Let's observe his development. Think of the "close-to-the-basket screens he can set ... for Payne, for KJ ?

A guy that big who hits 59% will improve. With this 'jetgo' near the basket fewer layups for opponents. I'm proud of coach White for getting this non-short guy. (A commit in basketball is more "locked-in" than in football.)
If we can get known as a "big man school", we can reach the top again - as long as we don't high-bounce dribble.

I don't remember Billy reaching for many projects like gak basset and now jitoboh. I'd rather see us go after someone that produced. Even if it's a 2 star. I'd rather have the guy that put up numbers. Either way, this is why we don't have don't have a big man.

Jimmy Sutton
Eloy Vargas
Allen Chaney

I think Vargas and Chaney were higher rated, but I don't remember them doing squat for us. But we had a lot of trouble developing bigs under Donovan. Outside of Noah and Horford, there wasn't much going on, and I think those guys did more on their own. As good as Richards was, I always felt that he had more potential than was developed here. Lee was very slow to develop and then took off once he got to the NBA. Young seemed to get worse each year.
