First car was one of the ugliest cars ever made: A 1968 English Ford Cortina I paid 200 bucks for. Looked like a box car a first grader draws.

Saved some money and later bought what was my dream car....a green Metallic mustang mach 1with a 351 Cleveland. My dad wouldn’t help me or co-sign so I financed it myself at 29% interest.....in 1976. Yeah....I’m sure they laughed at me when I drove off the lot. I know my dad did when I drove it home.

Ugly? I think that thing is very cool. Looks a bit like a bmw 2002 to me.

How long did you keep that Mustang after the gas prices took off?

Ok were right around the corner from the new 2020 model year for cars. Anything new that looks cool please post.
Here are the 3 that I'm most interested in and offer fantastic performance for the money. All three are also somewhat "iconic" so the cool factor kinda oozes out of them. Nevermind any of the irritating You Tuber input and check out the cars.

Interestingly enough NONE of the 3 come with a third pedal...Both the GT500 and Vette share the same Tremec DCT 7 speed and the Supra has something from BMW...
I'd own any of the 3 but a Lime Green GT500 with Black stripes makes me sport wood...

Watching the Vette vid and the narrator is crying about GM locking the ECU and then wonders why....Ask Ford, GM and to a lesser extent Chrysler how much the diesel warranties cost them. Ford all but lost their ass on the 6.0 and ended up producing a guide on what to look for on the piston top to determine if it was tuned or not.
Ever see an ad for a "Bulletproofed" diesel? DPF, DEF and EGR systems are either removed or disabled and head bolts usually replaced with studs.
If the EPA decides to really crack down on these mods expect to see owners getting LARGE fines, Up to and possibly including parking the trucks, and shops hit so hard with fines and possible club fed time that some shops will be forced to close.
Some guys even bragged online that they holed a piston (or more) with tuning and the dealer warranted it.
Another death knell for tuners is the emissions that the manufacturers have to warranty for a set number of miles/time.... Thank VW for that one

Of course another issue, Perhaps even the main issue, Is the dreaded "L" word, That being liability. By locking the ECU GM (or any other manufacturer) can stand up in court and state that their car is only allowed to do "X" and the owner had the ECU modified so car can now do "Y". Yes any ECU can eventually be unlocked... It's man made and another person will figure it out.
Right now some are changing sensor inputs/outputs to "fool" the ECM without actually touching the programming.
Having worked on Vettes since 82 they've never really been a car I wanted..... But the latest ZR1 version sure does make it twitch a little.

Rumor has it GM and Ford are worried about the torque specs on the Tremac DCT 7 speed tranny. Tremac specs say it only rated for 650ftlbs of torque unless they redesigned it. Both the Vette and GT500 share this transmission for 2020.

The new 2650 TVS blower on the GT500 will easily get close to 1,000 crank HP with an upgraded head unit that has already been developed and tested. just pulley down the upper and lower, add a few bolt ons, CAI, long tube headers and an E85 tune...….All very popular within the Mustang community.

I sure hope Ford wasn't short sighted enough to over look this as Mustangs are the most modified vehicles on the planet.....Talk about a disaster.

Supposedly the C8 Vette has been bending frames because of the power, Hear the base engine may be a smallish cube V8 with twin hair dryers. Haven't seen anything about trans issues but I'll keep my eyes and ears open.

I'll argue your point about the stang being the most modded vehicle on the planet, Think the Jeep has that covered, One vendor catalog for the 07-18 JK model alone is over 3/8" thick, Same for their 41-06 models, I get one of each about 3 times a year.... At home and at the shop

Isn't the ability to bolt on a few things and make a thousand horses a great thing? I remember when the Crossfire 350 was the pinnacle of Corvette power... And it made maybe 235 hp

As long as making that much doesn't obliterate everything else in the driveline:lol:. I just heard from a Mustang forum member that the replacement cost of that tranny is over $20,000:eek3:

They will be annoucing all the specs on the new Vette in a week or so but my understanding is it will be a supercharged DOHC engine with the dual clutch transmission, 755HP and more performance than anyone other than a professional driver can use. It will be a legitimate supercar if it stays in one piece.

You might be right about Jeeps being the most modified "vehicle" I probably should have said "car". One day when I move out of this city I gonna have to get me a Jeep.
