EDIT: UNNECESSARY PERSONAL ATTACK

Double edit: Yeah, as if you’re so protective whenever people make personal attacks at me or my wife on a daily f*cking basis. :jerkit:

I was rooting for him and am glad he won. I’m pretty sure he has paid for his bad choices in life and think there’s no reason to hate the guy forever.

At 43 surpassing Jack will be a tall order, but I’m not going to count him out. Getting this monkey off his back might bring more success.

Hats off to Tiger he held steady down the back 9 while his competition couldn't do it, great moment for Tiger and golf.

During his prime, which lasted almost a decade, he was the best ever. By a mile.

But, he couldn’t keep that pace. Had he kept it up, there’s no doubt he’d be the Babe Ruth of golf. But, his bad back, love for pain killers and Waffle House waitresses derailed that.

Jack had the focus to sustain. Unless Tig-nutz rides this momentum to 5 more majors, I’ll take Jack.

What a day of golf. Scintillating action! Tiger's win certainly ranks high in the category of great sports comebacks in history.

Current conventional wisdom says Tiger no longer intimidates other players like he used to. Watching Molinari and three other contenders make double bogey on 12 (while Frankie rinsed another on 15) makes me think maybe he does still a little bit.

As to the GOAT argument I will say I am old enough to have seen both Jack and Tiger in their primes. I have been inside the ropes at dozens' of tournaments and interviewed Jack many times. (And he was not always "kind Uncle Jack" during his heyday.) They are both giants of the game but I have seen Tiger hit some shots that were not in Jack's repertoire. I would not say Jack was a better iron player than Tiger. A more consistent driver off the tee with exceptional length, yes. Both great clutch putters. Tiger a better short game player. The argument will continue even if Tiger were to pass Jack's major record. BTW, I don't know that major titles is the ultimate measuring stick for GOAT, just one has been applied.

I believe people can change and grow and become better as a result of difficult circumstances. It certainly appears that Tiger's struggles have had an impact on him and he is a more humble, thoughtful person than before.

Suffice to say it was a great Masters and Tiger's win was thoroughly entertaining.

Great post. Who did your write/broadcast for when you interviewed Nicklaus?

Pretty cool for his kids to be there and actually see him win something in person. He hasn't won a majors since 07

I love the GOAT argument but..... I don't understand the idea that choosing one means the other is cold garbage...
1 or 1A.... I would take either in a second..In their Prime, the 2 best golfers ever....

Tiger may win more Majors but as someone said, "even if he passes Jack's win total, the argument will continue." .
:swampqueen:Here's to Jack and Tiger..... may they always be locked together like Magic and Jordan or Walter and Emmitt.... The Best Ever!!!!!!

Tiger will likely not pass Jack’s majors and certainly not his number of runner up finishes but this is also a different era. Golf has some legit world class athletes playing the game now. The competition is far beyond what golf used to be.
