All kidding aside, I'm messing with them about the memory thing. What pisses me off about these two is their work. I see other gator writers put out a ton of quality stuff. It makes me wonder what these guys are doing with their day. Someone on this board has said this a few times and I agree. The Sun needs to retire these two and hire young writers.

Its all about beer and food and music to them. Come to think about it, whats wrong with that? :bananadance2:

I agree but instead they allow any decent young writer to go elsewhere. There was a time when they had inside information that is long past. I even remember Pat telling me directly he is not to be a fan of the Gators. Sure if you are a national type person that would be appropriate, working for the Sun you should be a fan of every Gator sport.

There are plenty of old guys who arent incompetent boobs.

These guys sucked when they were young too. They come from the Vern Drunkquist school of "journalism".

If there was a time when they had inside sources, it was before my time. All they have ever done to my knowledge is Captain Obvious stuff.

That may be what he said, but neither he nor Andreu ever seem very critical of either the coaches or Athletic Dept. (Except of course after a coach has moved on.). I get it. A buddy of mine used to work for newspaper in a resort area. He was strongly encouraged to never write anything negative about the town, the tourists, or any of the businesses.

I went to the game on Saturday. Franks was warming up right in front of us, and that's the first time I've seen him that close since his true freshman season. It's obvious the work that Savage has done with him, because the kid has really filled his frame out.

Not only that, but he was throwing some frozen ropes from about 35 yards out down to the corner of the south endzone, and with a tight spiral.

As dead as print journalism is, I'd be surprised if Weimer spits out 50 news reporting grads this cycle.

Remember that time you said you’d root for Franks if it meant we were winning?

We aren't winning yet. It's the offseason. I'm behind whoever is behind the center at game time.

Franks’ orange team is 1-0. Didn’t you watch the game this weekend?
Let's just see if we can beat Miami and go from there. I don't have to tell you that losing that game to start the season would be a disaster that would immediately put a cloud over the season. It's one serious must-win game.

I agree. Starting the season to a Miami team coming off a bad year with a new and unproven coach would be huge damper on a very promising big step forward this upcoming season.

Do you actually think that will happen, or is this just "worse case scenario" wool gathering? Not trying to be snotty, but while we go about casually dismissing the undeniable improvement in the talent, skill, and mental state of this team, including FF, we would do well to remember the shoddy excuse for a FB team DM inherited from McTwatwaffle. And refusing to recognize FF's significant growth AT THIS POINT IN TIME is to ignore the general incompetence and total haplessness of the era in which he came into the program. The kid has made real progress. How much he continues to make remains to be seen but he's gotten significantly better under DM, no doubt about it.

Oh, by the way, Miami is NOT going to beat a rapidly improving Gator team 4 months from now. DM knows the stakes in that game just as surely as we do. He understands full well what an impressive win in that game will do to set the table for the rest of the season. I believe he will field a focused, talented team led by a solid and potentially game-breaking QB in FF - a team that comes not just to play but to win. I expect a solid, 14-17 point win and wouldn't be surprised if we blow them out. This is not "reflex pumping." This is reasoned, justifiable pumping. Out.
