Franks completed 35% of his passes last year while under pressure. That is horrendous. His performance in the spring game is absolutely meaningless, whether it was good or bad. Teams are going to be watching a lot of film and pressuring Franks relentlessly. We will find out very quickly (likely against Miami) how far he's come. I'm in a wait-and-see approach.

For comparison, what is the typical completion percentage for quarterbacks under pressure? I assume it's low?

I was going to ask that but forgot. Franks is going to be under a lot of pressure next season if we try to force the intermediate and long balls. Mullen is going to have to call some pretty clever games.

Now that spring has ended we're on "transfer watch" - not only some of our players buried on the depth chart, but kids from other schools looking for opportunities. College graduation happens in the next 2, 3 weeks so grad transfers could start popping up.

The OL needs some serious help. If Banks comes back he could be a starter and/or the #6 guy. McDowell likely moves to #2 center. Will be great if we can add a grad transfer starter (Reese?):

Breaking down UF's depth chart after spring ball

Breaking down UF's depth chart after spring ball

Offensive Line:

Left Tackle
Stone Forsythe
Richard Gouraige

Left Guard
Brett Heggie
Ethan White

Center
Nick Buchanan
Tanner Rowell OR Kingsley Eguakun

Right Guard
Chris Bleich
T.J. Moore
William Harrod

Right Tackle
Jean Delance
Michael Tarquin

Overview: The starting five was consistent throughout spring practice, with the only real change in the second unit being that Kingsley Eguakun was taking more snaps at center than Tanner Rowell by the end of spring. Of note, Griffin McDowell is not included here after missing all of spring practice due to injury following a scooter accident.
Banks missing too. We better stay healthy on the o-line or it's going to be a long season. That's a lot of inexperienced depth. I really hope folks are right about Reese transferring in.

Sammon published an article on Kyle Pitts this morning. Here are the highlights,

1. “He’s been really, really, really good,” Gonzales told The Athletic. “For him, it’s being able to lock in mentally over and over and over again.”

Whether he was jumping over linebackers on catches, physically dominating defensive backs for separation or zipping beyond defenders while running his routes, Pitts this spring had ways of making observers forget he was learning on the job.

2. Pitts presents Florida’s largest (mismatch). Just ask around.

“You have to play him like he’s an actual receiver,” linebacker Amari Burney said. “The speed, the size, athleticism that he has, you can’t play him like he’s a tight end and try to slow play him because he will run right past you. Then, when the ball comes in, you have to hop for that ball because he’s going over the top on you.”

“Going up against him, you really have to try to body him,” safety Shawn Davis said. “He’s a big guy with good speed and he’s strong. You have to play at a high level when you’re against Kyle Pitts. You can’t play around.”

“He moves really good for his size, and I wouldn’t expect him to move like that just looking at him,” safety Donovan Stiner said. “But he’s really big and smooth. He’s a big mismatch problem.”

Too quick for linebackers. Too big for defensive backs. A problem on the perimeter.

When asked about a graduate OL transfer, Dan Mullen was all about it.

The ole ox heave-ho, where he wants to overthrow Franks. What we're observing is QB growth under the Mullen/Johnson teachings. Is FF unteachable? I think we've seen enough improvement to answer yes he is.
IMO, only a porous OL can diminish Franks progress upward. Franks' will have a superb arsenal with which to befuddle defenses with - Franks can be very befuddling. We put on the field over-the-top WRs and stellar RBs this year. This year FF will take command of that field.

And actually, it appears we really need a newcomer to outdo EJ, who isn't showing much.

Sure does, because those are all plays that broke down - they're throw-it-away plays = terrible completion %.

Yeah, 6 of 13 for 117 isn't going to cut it for this spring game that was set up to favor the offense. On the other hand Justin Fields went 4 of 13 for 113, 98 of which came on one play.

Under the assumption that Franks leaves, we definitely need another QB in the 2020 class. One that can actually pass the ball.

Accomplished transfer OLs would be excellent, for UF and for the transferred player. Mullen's pitch: "A rare opportunity to join a team where your heroics are responsible for trophies."

If we can shore up the offensive line, with the sort of weapons we have on the offense and the growth of Franks, we can cause some damage.

Reese from MSU is an honor student who's from Florida and whose brother is young Reese the LB. He has played for Hevsey and Mullen before at MSU.

A smart kid who probably knows his chance to improve his NFL draft status is better as a Gator....we shall soon see. Mullen can't tamper though. This kind of deal usually goes through the players high school coach in the beginning to comply with rules.

Do you happen to know if he and his brother had the same coach in HS? Gotta hope since the younger brother came to UF, the coaches had a decent enough relationship the HS coach. You have to figure that if this guy is going to going to leave MSU, the relationship to UF's coaches as you mentioned would be huge.

Slaton and Conliffe haven't exactly been lighting the world on fire. If Langham can't even get on the field, that tells me he's just eating up a scholly. Can he take CJ McButters with him?
