Sammon published an article on Kyle Pitts this morning. Here are the highlights,
1. “He’s been really, really, really good,” Gonzales told The Athletic. “For him, it’s being able to lock in mentally over and over and over again.”
Whether he was jumping over linebackers on catches, physically dominating defensive backs for separation or zipping beyond defenders while running his routes, Pitts this spring had ways of making observers forget he was learning on the job.
2. Pitts presents Florida’s largest (mismatch). Just ask around.
“You have to play him like he’s an actual receiver,” linebacker Amari Burney said. “The speed, the size, athleticism that he has, you can’t play him like he’s a tight end and try to slow play him because he will run right past you. Then, when the ball comes in, you have to hop for that ball because he’s going over the top on you.”
“Going up against him, you really have to try to body him,” safety Shawn Davis said. “He’s a big guy with good speed and he’s strong. You have to play at a high level when you’re against Kyle Pitts. You can’t play around.”
“He moves really good for his size, and I wouldn’t expect him to move like that just looking at him,” safety Donovan Stiner said. “But he’s really big and smooth. He’s a big mismatch problem.”
Too quick for linebackers. Too big for defensive backs. A problem on the perimeter.
