ESPN just released this article with odds to make the playoffs and win the national championship next year. As you might expect, Clemson and Bama are nearly locks for the playoffs (83% and 71% odds, respectively) and dominate the chances at a title (36% and 27%, respectively - in other words, a nearly 2 out of 3 possibility that one of them wins it all). We sit ninth with a 10% chance to make the playoffs and 1% chance to win it all.

But, there were some other interesting tidbits:
  • We have the #3 most difficult schedule going into the year.
  • The #1 most difficult schedule is South Carolina (Clemson OOC in addition to SEC schedule makes it #1 I'm sure).
  • Georgia came in as 4th most likely to make the playoffs, and 3rd most likely to win it (40% to make and 8% to win it all).
  • LSU came in as 6th most likely to make the playoffs, and 5th most likely to win it all (32% to make and 6% to win it all)

No wonder Muschamp was stingy with that pizza money - he is probably saving his money when this next season goes poorly and he is back out on the street. I know he is probably strapped for cash, the poor guy.

Can't change it, that's our schedule. We picked up scum and Auburn in rotation. Get the oline up to par and with an evolved giraffe running the offense. We will be fine

Wouldn't be the offseason without the annual, "I'm tellin' you, this Lsu team could..." talk.

Putting them in the NC discussion based on actual on-field performance is ludicrous.

We ain’t winning it all this year. That said, I sure would like to be the ones to keep the dwags out of the conversation.

The Cocks get Bama on rotation making it hardest. Plus us and Georgia and Clemson Plus they play a not so bad UNC team and even the "gimme" is App state. Not a lot of confidence that Muschamp is pulling them through this season.....

Muschamp will be lucky to go 6-6 this year. His saving grace is he has an experienced QB returning and a solid DL. If he wins 8 games w/ that schedule he should be a lock for SEC COY. But he has a better chance of going 5-7 or worse than winning 8 games.

Think what we have in store for opponents.
#1) a whole team unleashing their 2nd season under "real" coaching.
#2) now developed dual-use QB. Franks will sustain many drives with his running. It won't be giraffe-like.
#3) fierce receivers : Pitts, Swain, & Grimes ... Toney, Copeland, & Jefferson ... Cleveland & Hammond ... Krull
#4) RBs : Perrine, Pierce ... Toney ... M Davis ... Clement ?
#5) FG ... McPherson ... P ... Townsend
#6) a fingers-crossed OL. At least they have Savage strength and stamina.

There will be SEC all stars in that group. And we will have fun watching them.

And yet many of our foolish fans want us to make our schedule even more difficult by scheduling home and home series with teams like Texas, Michigan, Oklahoma or Southern Cal type teams.....I agree we should stop scheduling FCS teams, but football scheduling occurs far in advance and is more complicated than many realize.

We should bump off Clown Town and rotate among scUM, Clowns, and USF, or maybe some other big name schols like Texass or Okie.

I thought you were in the 'do away w/ the WLOCP' crowd and schedule better games. Change tunes?
