I’ve completely given up on the NFL and there is a myriad of reasons beginning with the anthem protests and not limited to the less exciting play and corporate oversight ruining the game to the point of unwatchability. Other than keeping track of former gators I’ve freed my Sunday’s. If anyone has any other reasons or thoughts....discuss.

Free agency and indoor stadiums. Was once a fan in the 60s and 70s but never watch these days.

Great point about Free agency, and somewhat indoor stadiums. Them getting even more money while whining about various parts of their employment is another factor.

Hell it was nice when kids stayed at a school for 4-5 years...but now that’s gone too...ppl are willing to quit or look for something “better” always contemplating greener pastures to where marriages and careers aren’t even a lifelong commitment anymore...this generation is mentally weak

I watch because my kid wants to watch the Seahawks. I'll also watch when the Chiefs are on TV. But if an NFL game is on that doesn't include the Seahawks or Cheifs, I likely won't be watching unless a former Gator player is on the team and I want see how well they're doing. And I don't go out of my way to watch any of those games, not like I would for a Gator game. I don't really watch other college games if the Gators aren't on the field.

Well ... bit of a red herring, but lets not act like these kids are actually getting a college education anymore. A few of them are, but most are not real student athletes. But to take this pont a bit further and more of a red herring to original question asked in this thread, lets not act like a college education is that green pasture that it used to be as well.

We only watch the Steelers if they are on TV. Getting rid of NFL Sunday Ticket five years ago was the beginning of the slide to apathy.

NOLA swears he doesn't pay attention to the nfl…

:stirpot:

Boy you sure care what I think?

Get a life.

I schedule my weekend around Gator Football.

I may or may not watch the Saints but seldom an entire game.

I do watch IF they make the Playoffs...usally someone throws a party.

So, do I care? Geez, not really but if it makes you feel better.

I loved the old NFL. Great players that identified with a team. Much like old cars. You could tell a chevy from from a ford from a dodge. Now they all look alike. Now players jump team to team they have no identity.

What the college game has over the No Fun League is atmosphere and rivalries. Sure, there are a few rivalries in the nfl. But, they don’t reach the intensity of a Florida/fsu or bama/auburn.

What the nfl has is the quality of the game. Even more than that, it is the access fans have. If I want to rewatch the jags season I can. With Florida, I have to either record it or hope someone uploaded it to YouTube. I have access to all these analytics if I want. And on and on. There’s a reason nfl is king and still expanding.

The NFL has Fantasy Football...IMO that is the real reason they have people watching.

College has variety of systems, rivalries, and atmosphere - basics for entertainment. NFL teams are boring and predictable, even if they have minor differences in scheme. Fantasy football is the remotely interesting thing about the NFL.

The self-righteousness is flowing. Own up. If you have an NFL team you care about and if said team is currently kicking hiney, you are damn well watching NFL football.

I'm in, all in. Go Bears!

Hard to believe there has been little to no mention of one of the, if not the main driver of NFL popularity...gambling. Legal and amateur betting is a huge part of this massive industry. Don't think the league is folding its tent anytime soon.

If the first two QBs are injured and the Bengals are forced to play Drisktard, sometimes I watch just to laugh at them.

Besides, seeing the Browns win is somewhat akin to seeing Haley's comet. You don't want to miss that kind of history.
