Yeah, I do not think he ever got the development either in HS or in college.

He's Gator Bait!

I have no pity for these guys. For a 3 year period, we had all of these uniformed Florida kids deflecting to auburn and Ole Miss. And they've all been busts.

Hopefully the coaches use this example more in recruiting.
I understand that these kids get horrible advice, but I honestly don't understand what was so hard to see about this. He had no business ever committing to them. It scares me that these young men don't have the gumption to make their own decisions. If he'd just have looked at it objectively, he wouldn't have to illicit so many bad outside opinions.

Neither he nor Jefferson should have been ranked that high. He did not have the relentless effort plus he probably did not have the speed to be even an SDE. Jefferson's problem is that he does not have the size or speed to be an edge rusher. He basically has no position.

I'm inclined to give the kid a break. As he was a 17 year old, who had bounced around a bit and had no father figure for a lot of his life, it shouldn't be surprising that he might have been ill-equipped to make the right decision. I for one am glad that it came together for him this year and hope he makes it in the NFL. I suspect that even if it doesn't, he'll make something out of his life. I would never have thought that 12 months ago.

I'll say this again,

I think every player should get 1 Free Transfer, especially the first year.

And if a coach leaves why can't a player.

That said, if you verbally commit...you're committed

Saying goes “if you ain’t a Gator, you’re gator Bait”. Implies any non-Gator, including guys we’ve never played, is gator bait.

He was a guy we coveted at one point and spurned us for a rival. I think he qualifies pretty well.

I do agree it would be silly to apply this to folks we have no connection to, like a Midwest recruit who ends up an Minnesota.

5th round to the Patriots.
It's always fun to watch NE work the lower rounds wondering what they have up their sleeves. They're so good at IDing value.

I'm really shocked that it's already been 4 1/2 hours since your post regarding NE and nobody has slammed Belichick or Kraft yet.

Players highly pre-evaluated like Cowart, seems to me, may have a stumbley first season, but as #1 should show solid development into an All American performer before 3 seasons are gone. Player nor his coaches should escape blame.

I think they figure those guys have almost no guaranteed money and they are likely to get cut anyway. You might as well swing for the fences with that talented kid who didn't develop and may still be able to do so.
