I really appreciate this breakdown. But I never said he looked amazing. I said he did pretty good IIRC.

Anyway, the point I'm trying to make is that we're good even with this true freshman leaving.

Trust CDM.

Trust the players we keep.

They want to win more than any of us fanatics.

Question. Do you think we can win with our current 2 or 3 QBs on our roster knowing we have an untested and young O-line, stout play from WR, TE and RB as well as a solid defense and ST?

Not what I'm doing, at all. But it's as effective as portraying doom and gloom and supporting that view with 30 minutes worth of film review and stats only to still end up with CDM pulling out 10 wins like he did last season against all the nay sayers' prognostications.

And that's why I want a transfer quarterback soon. I am totally unimpressed with EJ and AR is totally raw when it comes to passing. I'd rather recruit athletic quarterbacks that can throw than running QBs that can't.

No, he isn't slightly worse than Franks. He migiht be slightly worse than Franks playing against air (or that poor walkon QB that everyone picked on).

He is significantly worse than Franks with a pass rush because he is a statue in the pocket, cant run the option half of the playbook, cant run the QB draws and of course, isn't ever actually available because he gets hurt while standing on the sideline in a no contact jersey.

Trash next job will be bagging groceries. Franks will be in the NFL if only because he is big fast and has a rocket arm.

Did Trask NOT return your mother's call?

These are our current QBs:
NO NAME POS HT WT CLASS HOMETOWN
#5 Emory Jones QB 6'-2" 192 FR Lagrange, GA
#11 Kyle Trask QB 6'-5" 239 SO Manvel, TX.
#13 Feleipe Franks QB 6'-5" 227 SO Crawfordville, FL.
#17 Nick Sproles QB 6'-2" 211 SO Winter Park, FL.
#19 Jack Ruskell QB 6'-2" 195 FR Libertyville, IL.
#42 Jaylin Jackson QB 5'-9" 160 FR Tampa, FL.
#4 Kadarius Toney RB 5'-11" 194 SO Mobile, AL.

We're good with Feleipe Franks throwing for 3,500 yards this year and going Pro afterwards.

Even w/a possible injury to Franks this year, we have Kyle Trask (or Emory Jones) to come in and win games.
I know, most of you just fainted, woke up from said faint are are eagerly pounding away at your keyboard to make me understand, and share, in your version of "doom and gloom" in this scenario.

We're good.

CDM will coach em all up and have them playing at a very high level this year and their success will probably hinge more on our O-line play than any other single thing to include:
- ability
- whether they're "smart enough"
- the play book

Then, CDM will do a great job in recruiting and get a good QB out of high school to come to the Gators. He will.

Then, we'll still have Kyle Trask and Emory Jones (order will be flip flopped based on ability IMHO) to sling it around in 2020 while the new QB learns the ropes and takes over in 2021.

Your reasoning is ridiculous, but I agree with your end point.

"We're good" because JJ was never gonna see the field in any meaningful snaps.

"We're good" because we have Emory who will undoubtedly be the heir apparent.

Now it does affect the potential depth 2-3 years from now. But that's negligible. There's still time to change that.

They can talk and "be recruited" by other teams. You couldnt in the past.

They also arent required to leave. It is just a chance to look around.
So, what's all the belly aching about? Is this what's causing all the uproar?

"Allowing" the kids to be recruited is just an open acknowledgment that this was already going on. Their just making it ok to do it openly.

And there's only 3 reasons kids voluntarily transfer... Depth chart, proximity to home or familiarity with coaching staff. Or any combination of the 3. It's laughable to think these kids are making decisions based on recruiting visits.

Btw, I'm not questioning you directly. Just questioning why so many people seem to think the portal is affecting anything. The NCAA granting immediate eligibility for any reason is becoming a problem. The portal is inconsequential.

Did you see him in the O&B game?

Well, anyway, he looked real good in the Spring game. BTW, he's huge! I believe he can successfully run our offense

I said he did pretty good IIRC.

I appreciate the @ltraz play by play breakdown, but it is completely unnecessary in this instance. If these are three takes you have from the O&B game regarding Trask, we now know your game analysis is irrelevant during the season and not to bother rechecking the tape for your take. This is nonsense. He looked like s4it. From the first pass to his completions off his back foot while wearing a noncontact Jersey, to poorly missed passes and bad sacks because he can’t move. Our transfer portal qb looked better without throwing a pass.

Other than loving everything in orange and blue, I don’t know how you watch us try to help the QBs through the defensive play calls, Trask nevertheless look so trashy, and, yet, you still think he looked good enough to defend for 3 plus pages.

In other news, Ray Goff would have been the next Dooley if only he hadn’t coached during the Spurrier era. Too far????

I can't say I disagree with any of this. That said Trask is essentially what I expect out of a 3rd team QB. He can possibly
give you a chance in a game or two, but extended time into the course of the season won't bode well for us. Like it or not
he's going to backup Emory in 2020 unless he bolts to a DIII school.
