Gators travel for 3 games at UGA Fri,, Sat. and Sun. Gators are 9-12 in the SEC, tied for 4th and coming off taking 2 of 3 against KY. UGA is in second place in the East at 13-8 and limp in after being swept at Cowbell last weekend. Mace is scheduled to start on Fri. and Leftwich on Sat, with who knows on Sun. Have no idea what to expect, but we can't afford to be swept.

Georgia is winning like we used to - with pitching and defense. They lead the nation in fewest hits allowed per nine innings at 6.13 and are 8th in ERA at 3.19. Their fielding percentage is .980 and I think that's #12. But their team batting average is only.263. They broke a 4-game losing streak Tuesday by beating the Citadel 9-0. One of the keys is whether or not their ace pitcher Emerson Hancock (7-2, 1.04 ERA) is available and he is not listed as starting either tonight or Saturday. Their 3B/closer Aaaron Schunk (1-1, 2.14 ERA and 11 saves; .339 batting average, 7 HR and 39 RBI's) hasn't played since last Friday night due to an Achilles problem and if he's not available, that could be another advantage for Florida. They have junior Tony Locey pitching tonight (7-1, 2.60 ERA) and junior Tim Elliott going tomorrow (5-3, 2.63 ERA). We have a definite offensive advantage, but our defense needs to be stout the the pitching needs to come through if we're going to have a chance to win the series. Getting swept would be disastrous for our postseason chances as we really need to win 5 out of our last 9 conference games to get to 14 wins.

Good info, thanks. Going to be a tough chore this weekend regardless of who is out for them and I'm sure the confines will be anything but friendly. Really need Mace and Leftwich to be on their A game. I know the different sports teams don't "interact" but it would be awesome if our guys wrote "14,000" on their hats. They'd have to call in the National Guard.

Final two series won't be gimmes either. Should be interesting.

I despise UGA, but from what I've seen of our pitching staff lately, I don't think I'd be taunting anyone.

Well not the kind of start we hoped for. after all 3 guys strike out to begin the game, Mace has an 0-2 count on the UGA leadoff hitter, only to go 3-2 and then serves up a gopher ball. mace then promptly walks the next 3 hitters to load the bases, but escapes only giving up 1 more run, but did walk another in the inning for a total of 4 walks in the 1st inning and a 2-0 deficit. Only hope might be the UGA starter is wild as hell even tho he throws hard.

Mace out after 3.1 innings and 7 walks. Christian Scott comes in and hits guy then gives up a single. 3-1 GA with bases loaded and still only 1 out. Not looking good.

Hate to admit it, but I am throwing in the towel tonite. Trailing 5-1 after 4 innings, the GATORS have allowed 9 of the baserunners for UGA by 8 walks and a routine error by MCConnell. this against arguably the worst hitting team in the league. We are an awful baseball team with a horrendous pitching staff.

Seven walks by Mace? Sheesh . Sully hates free passes . Jack showed a little moxie last year in the postseason , but I’ve never thought much of Tommy. He just doesn’t have a big league arm and obviously dreadful command .

We have no reliable starting pitchers - NONE. Dyson didn't even make the trip to Athens. This is a bad team.

Georgia beat Florida 6-4 as a late Gator comeback fell short. Maldanado & Smith got 2 hits each, UF had 7 total. Mace & Scott were bad the 1st 4 innings and got the Gators into a hole they couldn't get out of. Georgia, also, had 7 hits, but Mace issued 7 walks and Pogue had 2 more in relief. This game was winnable, as GA stranded 13 baserunners and UF 7.

Just read where we dropped game 2, giving the series to the mutts. As has been mentioned, our pitching pretty lousy. Seems I've read where O'Sullivan has constantly bemoaned how badly our guys manage the counts. Not that one guy could change everything, but Dyson not being able to take that next step (actually digressing terribly since his run in latter stages of the championship year) has been a big factor. I'm also not certain we have anybody among those that have started who are as tough as the guys we usually have. Hope it's just growing pains, but it's tough to watch. Even though we're young, we seem to have enough offense to support decent pitching.

We're, also, losing Game 3 4-1 going to the 7th. Both games today are 7 inning games due to some SEC rules. Lost Game 1 9-1 and our only runs today have been solo HR's by McConnell. And Georgia is doing this without 2 of their normal weekend starters as well as their closer/#B, who is their best hitter. We're simply not worthy of an NCAA tourney bid this year with 6 SEC games left we'll be 9-15 in conference play (1-11 in SEC road games) needing to get to 13 wins to have a chance. I don't see it happening.

Not sorry I missed both games today while traveling, but not shocked by getting swept yet again. UGA is a good team but we are a bad team and most disappointing is that we are improving very little if any individually and as a team we are getting worse. Almost no chance to win 5 of our next 6 SEC games to squeak into the tourney and making the tourney to me is irrelevant since we would go 2 and out. someone said that they would not like to see UF as a 3 seed in their regional. I laughed and said you would want UF as a 3 seed in your regional b/c you want the worst teams possible in line to play your team.

VERY probable we get swept this weekend too.

This is simply a horrible pitching staff.

The good news is, with the season ending early, Sully can let the pitching staff start digging footers for the new ball park. They need the exercise.

I’m seeing this as a “getting our asses handed to us” season where we get back to our winning ways next year as revenge. Amirite?

We were. Worst Sully team that I’ve seen. I know we’re young but...
