Yeah, but that's not the kind of crap I have repeatedly referred back to in this thread. It's the "it's already over" crowd that I take exception to. Reality is he's absolutely got work to do, but it ain't over yet - not by a long shot. And I'll go with your Dabo example of the "average" recruiter becoming an "elite" recruiter - with on major caveat: Dabo took a few years of rebuilding the Clemson brand before becoming "elite," and the way he did that was by winning with what he had. But admittedly, even if DM does land a top five class this year, and he does when 10-11 games, all the nay-saying will still go on as if nothing positive has happened - and that's reality too.
I don’t see it like you do. Most are pleased and/or pleasantly surprised with the job he’s done so far. Genuine concern over recruiting is just being able to understand that no coach will make it at a place like UF when you have less talent than half your opponents every year. There might be 2-3 posters here that truly dislike Mullen.

Not to sound all sappy but do y’all know what happened to Clemson based on yearly production by Dabo? Ppl wanted him fired and before people get all up in arms about “it’s not the same” put Swinney in the SEC west and see what you get...Mullen deserves the chance he had to create a culture and a program that works

I’m not sure. It I think it’s a combination of several things. When their facilities were upgraded to Disney World level his recruiting really started taking off. He’s also done well with recruiting high level players at key positions (QB, DL and RB/WR).

Yeah and considering we’re almost last in the P5 in facilities maybe we’ll be able to catch up in 5-10 years

The big three deciding they didn't need to keep up, because they were in the middle of the largest talent pool helped dabo also. The internet and social media making these school seem like they're right out the kids back door also has hurt in state recruiting.

It's the handful of malcontents I was referring too. They are admittedly a small segment, but they speak with a very loud voice.

I honestly don't consider myself a "pumper." I do generally approve of the job DM is doing and believe it's much too soon to conclude that he won't get it done. Maybe he won't, time will tell but not just yet.

I really don't disagree with that obvious truth. It's the lunatic assertions/insinuations that there has been no improvement at all in the overall talent/recruiting and that DM is predestined to fail - based largely on the decision of one recruit. That's what I'm calling BS on. Recruiting has to continue to improve, everyone agrees on that. Saying that it absolutely will not happen and that DM is destined to fail is something else again.

I understand your concerns, but Dan keeps preaching about the “Gator Standard”. This is UF. FSU and Miami are cheeks right now. We just won 10 games and didn’t look terrible doing it. Beck and Bowman were at the top of the board and are better options than AR and Lee. We missed on both of them. Gotta get the elite recruits to truly improve.

Players like Emory, Steele, Elam, Bogle, etc. until this roster is littered with them or we pull a Watson/Lawrence out of our ass, we probably aren’t winning a championship soon.

And if rumors are true, along with the upgraded facilities came the upgraded bagmen...

Jeesus Fukking Christ, the incessant Dabo pitch. Dabo isnt a great recruiter and he never has been. However, Clemson spent 250 mil on facilities and have had the best bagmen since the 70s. Plus he plays in a shyt conference with no competition.

Same shyt as Jboss and other morons spouting about a 2 star going first round in the NFL once. The exception proves the rule.

Some you will continue like we are doing something great so long as we dont fall too far below the Kintucky Mizzu line and manage to stay in the Butters zone recruiting.

JD, you should stick w hating Jooos. At least you are good at that.

The thing that people have to get past is Tigert Hall isn’t as concerned about football as the people on this board.

Dabo has the best bagmen..???... Aren't you one of the ones who make fun of posters who blame recruiting losses on bagmen? Not asking for consistency from a lesbian donkey, but....

I have no serious issues with anything you said. I was originally goofing on a certain poster who is in all likelihood destroying additional brain cells with wild abandon - as I post this reply. Then one of our resident bad asses joined in the fray for a giggle and to call me some names and the chase was on. My original point, that the goobers who have jumped at any opportunity to pat themselves on the back for hating on DM since day one will never stop, was apparently lost in the ensuing kerfuffle.

Nor do they care about educating the High School Students from Florida.

Hating joos must be all I got...damn and all just for saying let’s just give the guy a chance and pointing out that they built the program with less than stellar recruiting the past few years...but then again I did point out liberalism is a cancer...shame on me I guess
