Looks like the last time we had a non-conference road game (not neutral site) west of the Mississippi was at USC in 1983, a 19-19 tie. And unless something weird happens with our scheduling in the next 10 years, this will probably break that 46 year streak. :faint:

UGA friend of mine (yea, blasphemy) went out there when UGA played there in 2010 (and lost), still talks about the trip, said the atmosphere was legit, as well as the 'scenery'.

We should play Notre Dame, Ohio St., USC, Texas, and Oklahoma on a yearly rotating basis. Play 4 of the 5 as our OOC games and nothing less.

Hell, after that debacle at Syracuse in 1991, I can't think off hand of any road game outside the conference and state of FL.

It's small but a great atmosphere and beautiful setting.

Added bonus is he has his tickets in the new section that serves booze and is right where Ralphie comes out

We always schedule a west-of-the-Mississippi cupcake in September, Colorado State and Northern Colorado the past few years. Colorado makes the SOS better, but not a whole lot better. I was expecting a bit more panache with this announcement.

If you're going to travel to a game, though, Boulder is about as good as it gets. Very cool little town.

Granted it was not the big marquee match up that many were hoping for. But the U. of Colorado is a flagship state university and not a directional podunk school. It's in a Power Five conference. It's against a new opponent for us and is an intersectional game. It's in a great away game setting albeit a long trip. Bring on Ralphie and let's play football.

I don't understand how this is good for us. Our schedule is already top 10 most years. Doesn't this just cost us revenue from a home game the year we go to Boulder?

I’m fine with the opponent. It’s a P5 team, which is all you can ask for given our other big game opponents.

My only real issue is feeling the need to announce something so far out. It seems pretty hollow. Don’t get me wrong, my youngest loves buffalos and has always wanted to go to Colorado. Thinking of planning a surprise trip out there for him once he passes the BAR.

Freedom Bowl - Ugh. :headslap:
1989 Freedom Bowl - Wikipedia
Since I don't even remember Emmitt playing in that bowl game, this is of note and explains much of my memory loss:
Washington built a twenty-point lead at halftime and won 34–7. Smith gained only 17 yards on seven carries, as Florida was forced to go to the air in the second half. It was Smith's lowest rushing total since his first game as a freshman, when he was a reserve.
I was at that game. Emmitt was completely disinterested on the sidelines. You could tell he had already decided to leave. Was just an awful game.
