lizard, I understand your anger over the vandalized sign. To me that was a childish, juvenile-type thing to do. Amazing after a few beers you can become an artist. Then again, my car was egged at a game in Gainesville as I have a U tag. There are crazies on both sides. Make no mistake about it, I am not counting on an automatic victory even if you lose a few players. Good grief why would I when our O line is high school quality and QB unknown, all new coaches, new plays, etc. I would much prefer to play this game the end of the season vs. 1st game. Your O line is not great either, but I think is perhaps better than ours at this point. and you have a proven QB. No, I am not enjoying your current problem (whatever that is) as I much prefer both teams at full strength.

OK, you're just too reasonable to stay mad at. I'm clearly not used to such gentlemanly discourse with a Cane. This has been a day of paradigm shifts to say the least. Peace out.

A kid from Pahokee or Jax or Atlanta probably sticks it out.

Not sure I really understand this comment. Are you saying because he was from the West Coast he doesn't have the balls to stick it out?

This whole fiasco is going to set us back another 10 years. As mentioned last night, this Steele announcement was only one of a few to follow. There's more to come out. I was just starting to come around that Mullen might actually be decent for this University.
I think we might be done. I think the other names were just Dwags hoping.

Jaydon Hill has pretty much said so in tweets.
As for the possible grade issues, there is still time.

As for those talking about Steele, the rapes were April 6, and Steele had to live w JJ for weeks after Jaydon Hill and he broke up the rapes. They should have separated them immediately after that, at least. Im not privvy to the date of the other incident(s).

If I found myself rooming with a guy who talks creepily about how girls are ho's and deserve to be raped, then I would move out without anybody's permission. If Steele had that backbone, then he's in the right. Best to be "in the right" right away.

Yes, I made a jump assumption, but not out of the realm of likelihood.

I’m still not sure that he’s not. I think we underestimate how much damage has been done to us over the last decade. With a solid roster, maybe we don’t take a kid who was kicked off his team in HS and dropped to a 3* because of character. And if we lose a 5* guy to transfer, it’s “oh well”. All of this is much worse because of where we’re at, and that really has little or nothing to do with Mullen. We still won 10 games, actually looked like a competent team and saw an uptick in recruiting. This hurts. But it doesn’t erase the good or mean we don’t have some positives to look forward to.

Will we be laughing about this Steele situation in November after we crush FSU yet again to pick up our 11th win of the season? Or will this be the beginning of the end of Mullen at UF?

Wow, the conspiracy theories are really flying around. So now the program is dead and set back for a decade?

It’s all perception to recruits that their needs are not met. If you were a decent hard worker (recruited by everyone,) paired with a thug and they wouldn’t move you......

Not really. It’s a combination of factors. As I pointed out this morning, these 18 year olds aren’t the same group that stormed Normandy. There is undoubtedly less sense of commitment than in years past. But again, when adversity like injuries, discipline and/or struggle to adjust to the next level sets in, and you’re in a totally foreign environment where everything from weather to culture to people is different, that’s a lot to ask of kid who should still be in HS. Add in the allegations against his roommate and his name even being mentioned, all before he’s even unpacked, and I don’t blame the parents for questioning the decision to have their kid on the other side of the country.

So I think everyone benefits by being somewhat close to their support and family.

So... we’re still blaming the previous coaches?

And Mullen was never known as a great recruiter. Yes, we landed a high class but take these 2 out and we’re down to 14th in that class. Not to mention the new recruits that won’t touch us with a 10’ pole.

I gotta say I’m not surprised to be honest there’s been rumors of rampant incompetence on controlling situations at most colleges and ours is apparently no exception...the fact that they would do anything to jeopardize a kids future is completely incompetent and abysmal on all levels...I don’t blame the kid after hearing all this
Political correctness or teach people how to adapt?

Thanks Sofla for clarifying. While I don’t agree with your assertion, “These 18 yo aren’t the same that stormed Normandy” not sure there are any. We evolve. The Millennial Generation is over and we’re moving to the next which all signs are pointing to be the complete contrast.

I guess I hear what you’re saying and I understand the POV, I don’t agree and think it’s shallow, especially for a highly regarded recruit that seems extremely grounded.

He is right about this, IMO. I think around half our our Cali types have gone home.

My only hope is the university hasn't been moved back to Lake City by the morning.

If it is revealed Mullen and/or his staff was involved in pressuring the girls to not press charges and that comes out as something more than a rumor he’s finished.

Very quiet from the staff right now and that is not good in the age where information true or false can get way ahead of you.
