Could be he wants Warren to be his coach, was his positional coach when he signed, could be Athens bound.

Couldnt agree more. We dont know all the facts. But the individuals in this thread bagging on steele and slamming him as a quitter or baby for leaving may actually be giant 2 year olds themselves. There's a very plausible scenario where steele did the good and moral thing and was ignored, then associated with the thing he was warning about. If that is the case (with what we know as of now, it does appear likely) who wouldn't want to get away from all that? Making snap judgments and speaking poorly about this kid at this point is in poor taste and extremely immature.

Brutal.

"It seems foreboding that 5-star 2021 recruit Bryce Langston decommitted from the Gators shortly after the Steele news broke. Every single recruit’s parents are going to hear the exact same refrain from opposing coaches: you can’t trust Mullen to take care of your son."

That's from the article. Ouch. Damn. SMDH.

Yep there will definitely be some negative recruiting. Just when we thought recruiting was getting straightened out.

Only facts here are that JJ and CS are in the portal. JJ was involved with sexual assaults and CS because of unknown reasons at this time. CS dad tweets out that you have to protect your name. Not a fact, but a hard assumption can be made that CS is leaving because he wants to distance himself from JJ and that situation.

So what doesn't make sense about that is that now that JJ is gone, why does CS feel the need to leave? JJ is gone and has provided the distance that CS Dad states is of the upmost importance. It provides a strong case of saying the kid is homesick and just wants to go home.

Like others have stated already, best to wait for the facts.

Disagree. We don't know yet but I'm gonna bet that Steele wasn't just saying I need a roommate because he's messy. You think just because JJ is gone that everything is all ok? Naive. The damage was already done IMHO. I think the Dad is trying to say once you get a bad rep it will follow you whereever you go. I don't understand why everyone wants to crucify this kid(who looks like he was righjt the whole time). I don't get it.

When you say "so that we don't have to admit what is going on at UF", you are clearly making a suggestion that there is an ongoing systemic problem in the program as a whole, as if the issue is far more widespread than the facts that we have at the moment. You didn't say "so that we don't have to admit what is going on between JJ and CS". To come now and pretend that you didn't mean that is disingenuous.

This whole fiasco is going to set us back another 10 years. As mentioned last night, this Steele announcement was only one of a few to follow. There's more to come out. I was just starting to come around that Mullen might actually be decent for this University.

Just wait till all the suspensions for Miami hit later this summer...there’s been lots of rumors there’s going to be a lot. From the same source that I saw hinting at bad stuff coming before Jones left...stuff I thought got cleared up when Jones played in the spring game. I don’t think this is gonna be a fun off season

I think we might be done. I think the other names were just Dwags hoping.

Jaydon Hill has pretty much said so in tweets.
As for the possible grade issues, there is still time.

As for those talking about Steele, the rapes were April 6, and Steele had to live w JJ for weeks after Jaydon Hill and he broke up the rapes. They should have separated them immediately after that, at least. Im not privvy to the date of the other incident(s).
where are you getting this " He and Hill broke up the rapes?" According to this article:

“Both reports state that two female UF students went to visit Jalon Jones and his roommates, Chris Steel and Jaydon Hill at approximately 2 a.m. The three football players and two women were in the living room according to both reports. In the first report Jones and one of the alleged victims left the living room and went to his room where they began to engage in consensual sex. She says Jones was on top of her when the door opened and Hill and Steele walked in. Noticing the two other men in the room she told Jones to stop, which he refused to according to the report. When Hill and Steele realized Jones and the woman were having sex they left the room. She alleges that even after the two players left she repeatedly told Jones to stop, which he didn’t. she was eventually able to push Jones off of her, get dressed and leave his room.”

…and the second episode: “She told UFPD that Jones “started to kiss her on the neck and removed her jean shorts and underwear and digitally penetrated her vagina” before turning her around to have sex with her. The victim says she repeatedly told Jones to stop, which he didn’t until he “saw and heard Hill in the living room.

Why did Hill and Steele enter JJ's room while JJ and the girl were having consensual sex? Can someone please answer this question for me?

Another reason I want to hear all the facts about the story before passing judgement is this:

So CS's dad just went out of his way to call CDM "AWESOME" and that his son is getting "INCREDIBLE" treatment, does not sound to me like a parent who was disgruntled about the living situation of his son or the issues with JJ. This was WELL AFTER April 6. While I am not expecting him to be dissing CDM publicly at that time, he had no reason to go out of his way if he had issues with the way his son is being treated. Did his parents just find out about this whole debacle? Or did they not care back then, but now found an out for their son to become immediately eligible to play and come closer to home?

Many questions need answers.

I agree we shouldn't be taking shots at Steele. That said, I think some of that sentiment is in response to the notion that Mullen should've done this or that to resolve the matter. I'm not sure that's completely accurate either. Until he knew the extent of the problem, his hands were probably tied and it looks like he at least set the wheels in motion to accommodate the roommate request. The picture being painted of a callous Dan Mullen refusing to hear his complaints about living with a rapist isn't exactly fair either.

Not sure what you are disagreeing with or why you think I am crucifying the kid. To me, it seems that you are assuming that the CS wanted to get away from JJ because of criminal activity. If that is the case, then the right thing would have been to go to the police or authorities and report stuff instead of just saying he wants to change roomates. Furthermore, I am not crucifying him, I am merely stating the facts, an assumed fact based on a fact ... and then stating what really doesn't line up with the fact we currently know.

If there were things going on that are illegal in nature and the only thing CS did was tell the coaches or just wanted to change roomates ... then CS kinda put his own name in the mud. With what we know right now, we can only assume that CS and JJ just didn't get along (for good reason ... sounds like JJ is a dbag).

EDIT: and btw, the most important thing I put in the message you responded to was it is best to wait till all the facts are known before passing judgements.

I haven't been online much the last 24 hours...but has this been brought up yet:

What's that 9th ranked 2019 recruiting class ranked now? Still top 15? We lost the top kid in the class and a 4-star QB.

A few pages back someone said 14. Sounds about right, if not optimistic

There people on this board who flat out don't like Mullen. (In full disclosure, i wasn't enamored with the hire either.) Their post count goes up when there is bad news and goes down when we are rolling. And right now, they are having a field day. Their narrative is that Mullen knew what was going on, protected a rapist, and refused to protect a helpless kid far from home,

Fair enough. There are some posters that are taking it a little too far and not just calling him homesick. Not saying you and I shouldn't lump you in with THOSE people. IMHO, his trust in the staff was broken. That's hard to fix. You want to label that as homesick? It's your prerogative. I also agree we need to find out more info.
