They can grab White. We’ll go get BD.
I hope they hire Mike White. Not sure why they would. But we aren't getting BD.

He is way post University of Slumlord.

Why would Billy Donovan willingly park himself in a perpetually underachieving program proximic to Detroit?

He wouldn't. And he won't.

I’d welcome Billy D back with open arms. He’s the anti-Meyer. Built his own success and didn’t bail at the first sign of adversity. Didn’t leave the healthiest program but he didn’t quit after his toughest seasons.

P.S. would totally welcome Urbs back but not as readily as Billy D. Billy is our guy, Urbs is a mercenary.

Of course Mike is available. Every below average coach in college basketball is available. Be that as it may, I posted something a few months ago regarding the Top 4 programs in college hoops and who they would call first if they had an opening and my answer was Brad Stevens. Well I am not saying MICH is Top4, they are not. But arguably they are in either the next tier or 3rd tier. And their source of funds/donations is TOP 5 easily in terms of alums: See Ross, Steven. So why not give Stevens a call?

Why would Michigan be able to pull a coach away from Florida. They were good 25 years ago and have a championship appearance since then. They're not a great program. Why would white go to Michigan after signing a top 5 class? When's the last time anyone at Michigan has recruited like that? Who does Michigan think they are?

Why not call Greg poppavich first?

Those saying Michigan isn't a top tier program most not be looking at the last 10 year record.

nothing but internet :kiffin:

michigan has zero interest in MW, nada, zip, zero, niet!

now, that doesn't mean I wouldn't LOVE for them to have interest, but they aren't interested in dollar store discount aisle specials.

I dont like your attitude. We need to spread this.

Of course, Fooley will probably just try to convince us we need to give him an extension and a raise.

Yeah right, dude is done with the college game and the BS recruiting, and Michigan is not a school that recruits itself.

You are correct.

One needs to look no further than the FBI investigation underway to understand why Billy left college coaching.
Billy was recruiting the best players against all of the Blue Blood schools with only his accomplishments to share as evidence of UF as a basketball power since we had a poor facility and marginal fan support.
If that was not difficult enough, he was competing against blatant cheating that included everyone from powerhouses like Duke to wannabe's like LSU while being handcuffed by "Doing things the right way" as we idiots at UF like to say. I can only imagine the frustration of investing hundreds of hours recruiting the next Beal or Lee or Miller only to have UNC, Duke, or Kansas up their offers and steal him from you on signing day.

I still can't believe he stayed as long as he did and I would be surprised if he jumped back into college right away.
With that said, anything is possible these days.

They're nowhere near a top tier program.

Mike White gets a nod too.

"Recommendation: Bobby Hurley or Mike White (if not Billy Donovan).

I think both of these guys are attainable and would have success. They've done well the last few years in terms of NCAA tournament appearances, but they could also be interested in a move. That said, if there's any chance Donovan leaves the Thunder for college, he's the obvious hire for Michigan.

Prediction: Billy Donovan.

The buzz continues to grow that Donovan would be interested in a return to college coaching -- and this would be his best opportunity over the next year or two. It would make a lot of sense for both sides."

Who will be the top candidates in Michigan coaching search?

How else will he ever escape the clutches of Russell "the Chucker" Westbrook? OKC would be a sweet gig if he wasn't saddled with the most selfish, uncontrollable, head case, max contract in the NBA. As it is, however, Westbrook is an unmovable fixture (who else would take him?) that will literally undermine whatever plans Billy D wants to put in place for the team because he can't count on his "all-star" point guard to follow any of them with any consistency. It must be infuriating to try and coach a guy who is that incapable of adjusting his game to what the team actually needs especially when Billy D's whole philosophy of coaching is tied to a team first mentality.

Since belien (or however you spell his name) took over, mich has been a top 10 team. They are a hot commodity right now. Certainly much hotter than us. Like it or not, it's true.
