Good stuff from Danny Sheridan, he butt-hurts a bunch of Clemson fans, calls out Malzahn, and sets UF's over/under win total at 9:

Maybe it is something about Tigers or perhaps just a coincidence.

Either way, Danny Sheridan has some strong words for both the Auburn and Clemson fan bases.

Clemson fans, apparently, didn’t want to hear it, but that didn’t stop the oddsmaker.

Sheridan, who had taken to Twitter, said Dabo Swinney’s Tigers couldn’t go through an SEC schedule undefeated.

“Clemson has a great team,” Sheridan told AL.com on Tuesday. “They could certainly compete in the SEC. They would not go undefeated in the SEC.

“I got several thousand tweets from irate Clemson fans because I said they would not go undefeated in the SEC. Alabama’s won five national championships (under Saban). How many times Saban been undefeated?”

The answer, of course, is once in 2009.

“If he can’t do it, and he’s won six national championships, including LSU, how the hell is Clemson going to do it?”

That’s not to say Clemson isn’t one of the top teams heading into the new season.

“Alabama or Clemson vs. the field, which is any other college team, I would make them both 6 to 5 favorites to win the national championship,” said Sheridan, who was recently inducted into the Mobile Sports Hall of Fame.

“I don’t ever really remember doing that with any two teams. No surprise as they are head and shoulders above everybody. That’s the first time I ever done that, and I don’t recall anyone else ever doing it.”

But, what if Nick Saban’s Tide played Clemson to kick off the season. You know, hypothetically.

“Alabama would be a 3-point favorite if they played in Week 1. I know people say, ‘Well, don’t you know Clemson beat Alabama? No, I didn’t know that. Of course, I know that,” Sheridan said sarcastically. “It has nothing to do with it. Alabama’s been an underdog one time since 2009 or something. They were an underdog at Georgia and beat them 38-10 (in 2015). …

“I would make Alabama no more than 3, maybe 2.5-point favorite, but you have to favor Alabama. At the end of the season, that’s a different story. I don’t know how they will do during the course of a season. To start the year, Alabama doesn’t have to butt heads with the SEC West.”

Sheridan has set the regular-season win total for Clemson at 11.5.

The number is 11 for Alabama “because history has shown Alabama will lose a game and still make the college playoffs,” Sheridan explained.

Other SEC win totals include Georgia (10.5), Florida (9), Auburn (8), Texas A&M (7.5) and Tennessee (7).

“I would say (Gus Malzahn) is an underdog to be the Auburn coach after the season for a number of reasons. He runs the same high school offense he’s always run. That was proven. Michael Lombardi, he said the same thing. He hasn’t developed a quarterback. Some people might say what about Cam Newton? Cam Newton came from junior college. What about Nick Marshall? He probably regressed. He came from junior college. Lombardi said, and I agree, he ruined Stidham. He didn’t ruin him, but his high school offense (did.)”

The problem, Sheridan said, is, as you can tell, the offense.

“He said he was going to take over and be the offensive coordinator,” Sheridan said. “To be polite, poppycock, BS, he’s been the offensive coordinator for six years. I said Auburn has accepted mediocrity. In the last five years, Malzahn lost five games (three times) during the regular season and four games during the regular season. One time, he lost 6 games.

“When I read that crap where he says we’re rebuilding, we need to have a quarterback, my comment is where the hell have you been for six years? You‘ve had one quarterback. The only thing that has saved your ass is junior college and the transfer of (quarterback Jarrett) Stidham.

“Yeah, you got a good quarterback in Bo Nix. I’d like a job that pays me $49 million over seven years where I only have to produce a freshman like Bo Nix once every six or seven years, that would be great.”

It isn’t the first time Sheridan has laid odds on Malzahn’s future on the Plains. Last year, he pointed out Auburn’s “mediocrity.”

I'm sure Auburn will play one of their best games against us, it just seems to work that way in recent meeting with them.

We usually struggle against one of the west teams every year.

Pretty sure Clemson went 3-0 against sec last year
Not nearly as difficult to go 3-0 with a remaining slate of ACC cupcakes. How would they fare with 8 SEC foes and a potential 9th in the CG? I suspect they’d do well but I don’t think they’d go undefeated.

Rolling through a 9 game SEC scheduled would takes it's toll physically and I'm not sure they'd have the depth to to endure.

Most of the Power 5 have 3-5 Teams that can hang with any other Conference...What's killer in the SEC is we have 8-10 that can beat you on any Saturday. You take any SEC Team for granted and you can get bit.

I get extremely tired of Dabo's awe shucks, praise the Lord drivel that he constantly spouts. He's also VERY good with his sound bites when interviewed. (I think he made a big point after winning the title that they were the only team in history that finished 15-0?).

All that said, the recruits eat his schtick up. Bowman is the latest. Wonderboy QB was last year.

Yeah, it's fun to play what ifs, but you can only play who you're scheduled.

I'm really surprised at Auburn's recruiting last year, and the number of kids they're in on this cycle. Their over/under is 8 (by the sportsbooks). I suspect they go under and they get their ass kicked by UGA and Alabama. Hopefully that helps us w/ some recruits we're battling w/ them for. Malzahn could be done after the Iron Bowl.

They got the depth to endure. Good lord, they are loaded with studs waiting to get on the field. I think the point is, you can't have an off week in the SEC. If you do, you probably lose. However, they still get into the playoffs as a 1 loss SEC team. Most missed the point of the article. It wasn't slamming Clemson; it was validating why a 1 loss SEC is just as good as an undefeated team in the ACC.
