Glad they're in and glad they don't have an SEC or ACC team in their region. Just nice to play different teams. Dallas Baptist has a consistent;y good program. 41-18 this year and they have wins against Texas A&M, Oklahoma (2), Minnesota (2), Oklahoma State, TCU (2), Illinois State (2) and Indiana State (3). Their team batting average is .283, but they have 2 senior pitchers, one righty/one lefty, who have started 15 games each. One of them is 9-2 with a 2.46 ERA; the other is 8-3 with a 2.50 ERA. Team ERA is 3.92, so they can pitch. Team batting average against is only .240. And Texas Tech is always good. We played them twice in Omaha, losing the first meeting and beating them in an elimination game. Looking forward to seeing how our guys respond to the opportunity.

Not surprised we got in however I am a little surprised that Mizzou did not squeak in. Turns out that final series sweep got us in and that along with a tourney upset or two bounced Mizzou. I don;t have a lot of expectations for us in the tourney, but I would like to see us be competitive and play sound ball.

Nick de la Torre (@NickdelaTorreGC) tweeted at 0:47 PM on Mon, May 27, 2019:
#Gators played Texas Tech twice last season, both games in Omaha.

Brady Singer started game 1 and lost 6-3.
Jack Leftwich started the second game and Gators eliminated Texas Tech 9-6.

Off to a bad start vs. Dallas Baptist. Mace was horrible, getting pulled in the 2nd inning after giving up 4 runs. Acton has a 2 run homer and Scott is on the mound now. Bottom 4, down 4-2.

Tommy just isn’t very good . His pitches lack movement , poor location and command . Seems like every start is a poor effort .

The boys and girls have out-punted their coverage.

Pitching absolutely sucked tonight. No one did their job on the mound. 8 runs should win a D1 game, especially when you start your "ace". But not this year's Gator team. They may beat Army, but then would need to win 3 more to advance to a Super Regional. And we ALL know that ain't gonna happen. Turn out the lights, the party's over. And Kevin O looked like he's ready to move on to next year.

The expectations for Florida athletics is unreal. A down year in baseball is when we "only" make the NCAA tournament and for softball when we lose our first game in the World Series. Disappointing to long time fans who want us playing for titles? Of course. But these are 2 great coaches we are fortunate to have. Relax and wait til next year.

Leftwich has been great today, much like he was against Missouri. Perfect game through 5 innings. I think the blister on his finger messed his pitching up for 4-5 starts in the middle of the SEC season. To me, even last year, he was better than Mace. Bats are destroying Army's pitching staff (up 10-0 bottom of the 5th), but who will start on the mound tomorrow vs. the Texas Tech/Dallas Baptist loser? At least we won't go 0-2 and finish in the 48-64 group.

The bats are alive. If we can just get some decent pitching we can beat DBU and maybe even win a game off Texas Tech. Nick Pogue is starting Game 1 Sunday.
