Im expecting them to throw $100k at it, then stop and see if that worked, the throw another $100k and evaluate, wash rince repeat.

I just dont see any dedication to fixing the problem. Or even awareness that there is a problem.

Why should they? We kept giving despite the last decade, and there is basically no one in the front office that is a football person anyway.

It is sad that a guy fired from Barn is basically our only hope.

If things don't change at that level we are condemned to more of the same - a state of eternal mediocrity/sucketude. It won't even matter how good the coach is or how hard he and his staff work. It will be like having Eddie Arcaro atop a burned-out plow horse. Maybe DM can gain enough influence to force the hand of the powers that be by winning some big games and quietly making the demand to upgrade at every level - or adios MFs. I'm afraid that's the only thing that will serve to wake them up - and even that may not be enough. Stay tuned.

Wouldnt they announce it?
Not sure it's reasonable to expect them to be open about all their vision, goals, plans to get there, etc. There's some balancing to be done there. Many (certainly not all) businesses have strategies and plans they keep confidential for obvious reasons.

Here, they have to hit the balance b/t a level of confidentiality and communicating enough to keep the interested parties interested (boosters, fans, recruits, etc.). Again, all we see are the results, which is why we're all dissatisfied with the last 10 years.

Of course I see why coke or budweiser keep certain future plans secret.

Im not sure I see the benefit of keeping future plans to expand scouting and QA staff secret. there's a good possibility that we simply don't have the office space to house them right now. I know we were using trailers in the early 90s.

I see the detriments, on the field and in recruiting. I dont think admitting we are so far behind is a problem. Everyone knows by now.

There clearly is no plan and there certainly isn’t any strategic thought going into how to get the football team back to championship caliber. If there was, we wouldn’t have built the IPF where we did and we certainly wouldn’t have committed $160M in facility upgrades to all other sports except football and then cry poor mouth and beg for more money before addressing football’s needs. Sadly, I think we’re fine with a middling 8-4 team and don’t have the will nor inclination to do what it takes to complete on the big stage anymore. Hope I’m wrong. I’ll keep watching regardless, just can’t help myself. However, if this goes on for another decade, that could change.

I’m far from a Fooley apologist but where should or could they have built the IPF other than where it is? Money had to be thrown at baseball to get the stadium moved to make room for the football facility. There was no way around it. Fact is is that Fooley dug is a huge hole and we can’t just snap our fingers and instantly fix it...it’s gonna take time. If it were up to Foley we would have had a 45 yard IPF and nothing else...SS has a ton of work to do to dig us out. Sadly it is what it is at this point.

Our facilities have nothing to do with us not signing interior dlinemen. We could have atleast signed a few plan B's . That's just incompetence.

Agreed, where I have issues is why the feet dragging on the baseball stadium? It should honestly already be built, or completed enough to feel comfortable about tearing the current one down. We really should just be way further down the road than where we are.

That’s a great question...one that probably can’t be answered by anyone not involved in the process. Other than the obvious that the former AD completely neglected our program
