Thoughts from you hop heads?
Check out this gallery from USA TODAY:

America’s 40 most delicious beers

America’s 40 most delicious beers

It's a decent list, with some obvious choices. For the non-IPA drinkers out there, it'll probably be viewed as a highly slanted "hophead" list. And honestly, they'd be right. As my reviews show, I'm certainly a fan of IPAs. But there is a lot more to domestic, microbrewery scene than just those beers(or the several sours mentioned).

Having Pliny at #1 is probably accurate based on reviews(I've never found it). And Bells Two Hearted likely belongs where it's at in the Top 3-5 range. But nothing from Stone or Ballast Point but a session like All Day makes the list? And if we're going as far as double IPA's, I'd put Dogfish Head's 120 over the 90, and replace Boulevard's Farm House with their Calling.

Also, Six Point is out of New York, not Michigan and is a big enough name to not make that mistake. So I'm a little suspicious of the editing and/or effort, and wonder if this is merely a case of a hipster casually collecting "names" while skateboarding to work in his Che pajamas.

It's a nice list. Thanks for sharing MJM. I think the author must've been stoned when he tried the two hearted.
It's about as close to perfect as one can ask for, but it doesn't have a coffee or chocolate taste to it. Damn sure
has nothing in it that makes it taste of butterscotch either. CBS and Dragon's Milk are both fantastic and well
deserved in the top ten. All day is a decent beer by Founders, but doesn't belong in my opinion even on the back end
. Frankly neither does Sam Adams rebel IPA. Anything from Boulevard, Ballast point or Clown shoes blows those
two to smitherines. I need to hit the road and travel more, as I've only had roughly half of this list.

I didn't read all of the descriptions of the ones I knew, so never even noticed that. Wow.

And according to a friend of mine who brews and is actually launching his brand, the "butterscotch" taste is one of the the worst reviews you can give an IPA. Apparently, it implies some flaw in the process and is the last thing you want to hear. I found out the hard way in describing one of his pale ales a few years ago.

about a month & a 1/2 ago, I had my first Pliny the YOUNGER. Yes, it is pretty good. However, it does not stand out as much as I suspect that it used to given the surge of big IPAs. The elder showed up in 16.9 oz bottles for a good month or so - also a first. Usually it is only on tap. Given its exceptional balance, I probably prefer it to the Younger.

I love Pliny the Elder and it’s about as hop-forward an IPA that you can get. Not really balanced at all. They basically titrate hop juice into the wort continuously. The Younger is a bigger beer and more balanced.
My two cents.

Bells double two hearted

I was excited for this one since two hearted is my favorite . It’s more potent than little brother but provides that same smooth malt caramel that lacks in other IPA brews . The resin is there in the aftertaste momentarily for the weed lovers out there like Bart .Double two hearted lives up to the hype . A plus+

Where’d you find that, and have you already closed out the tab?

So Son #1 took me here on Friday afternoon... after looking at the list, I said, “Where’s the beer? What is this schit? If I wanted peanut butter and jelly, I’d tell your Mom to make me a damn sammich!”

My two choices would be the dry irish stout and the Blood orange IPA.
Totally agree on the PB&J pale ale. The mere thought of it makes me cringe.
It sounds disgusting.

Is that in Gainesville? I may need the name to ensure I avoid it.

Yes... Big Top Brewing Company (Big Top something) downtown. Beer wasn't cold enough for me either.
Thanks; we'll be giving that a miss. (I don't understand the fascination some folks have with making beer fruity. I guess I'm old school in that my beer should be lagers or ales, with the occasional stout or hefeweizen.)
