I've said to people that I went to UF and they'll say, "Oh, the Seminoles?"
I've seen that happen to Mrs. G; it annoys the hell out of her. I keep waiting for her to ask one of these misguided souls, "Do I look like a clown to you?"

Btw, go show me a time in history when Dabo had zero five stars in a class much less on his roster.

And a time when Dabo had five top 10 recruiting classes in his conference.

This is so lame. Much like the same ole excuse makers claiming firing Chimp Butters was like firing Saban bc he was 7-5 at MSU and Corndog often.

So lazy.

If it makes anyone feel better, Clemson just landed a lower ranked 3-star TE (he was an FSU lean), Sage Ennis - from Tallahassee Lincoln HS. Ranked in the mid-500's. I suppose lower ranked TE's are common? He's their 4th 3-star in the class (one is Venables son, who has no business being a scholarship athlete at Clemson).
Wake me up when we have 20 bluechippers in the class and all the top kids from Florida, bc we are doin it like Dabo.

No the university is not telling them what to pay but the university sets the "full cost of attendance" figure that determines the stipend. The stipend is the difference between the full cost of attendance and the value of athletic scholarship. A traditional “full” athletic scholarship covers tuition, fees, room and board, and books. Universities also set a “full cost of attendance” price that estimates out-of-pocket expenses like travel, cell phone service and other incidentals. So either the university has to increase the full cost of attendance figure or the UAA hαs to lower its value of a full athletic scholarship.
Again.... total bullshyt. Hawkins and Sunshine people get 20k plus a year.

Total fvkking bullshyt.

. They also can receive the Pell Grant if they qualify and most due.
.
They can get a Pell or loan instead?

Is that SERIOUSLY your answer?

We can compete by telling them they MAY get a pell or loan instead of getting what most other schools GIVE them!

:lmao2:

Hilarious if wasnt exactly the cheapazz attitude we have.

Fooley still in the house. Saving money and giving himself bonuses no doubt.

I think the rankings of schools takes into account the cost to attend (and "value" is a category) - such as "Newsweek" or other Forbes rankings. I'd assume this is why they want to keep the cost of attendance as low as possible - so the ranking is as high as possible (this is just an assumption, but it seems our administration is obsessed w/ where UF ranks). I can tell you, living in the NE/mid-Atlantic, NOBODY cares where UF is ranked. I've said to people that I went to UF and they'll say, "Oh, the Seminoles?"

It has absolutely nothing to do with Forbes or Newsweek rank and everything to do with the University being cheap ass fckers on the stipend to athletes. Everyone knows this is a number basically pulled out of thin air for the sole purpose of providing stipends to athletes under the new NCAA rules passed in 2014. UF is going cheap like they do in everything else related to athletes. And all this penny pinching with annual athletic revenue mostly from SECNetwork, bowls and March madness that exceeds $95 million yearly in 2015 reports. Matching the Noles, Vols, FAU and FIU would cost us a whopping $750,000 extra yearly.

This issue has no correlation with Forbes or Newsweek, etc. value as the true cost number is just a figure of some bean counters imagination.

I’m talking about Morven Joseph. Taking him over Williams is beyond retarded

Other than ratings can you look at Morven Joseph's film and Chantz's film and really tell the difference between the two?

Then we are also recruiting Savell Smalls that has visited UF twice on his own dime. I think he's overrated at 5* but what do I know?

BTW, if these kids are going to be used as a hybrid OLB/WDE, should there not be some highlights of them actually playing OLB? Like covering a TE or a RB out of the backfield? Am I misunderstanding their role?

RB Sam Adams will OV Florida starting tomorrow evening. He's bringing his mother and aunt. I would be so ecstatic if he ends in our class! He won't commit until after his last 2 visits in the fall.

There is a very good recruiting status write up in the Athletic - Where Florida stands in 2020 recruiting and what it needs to...

Most of it is what many here are already observing, on both the pumper and dumper side, but it is also an example of a journalist noting the problems in real time, rather than playing the Abolverdi/Dooley "nothing to see here, you are all paranoid, unrealistic Gidiots."

A couple highlights/lowlights:

"The number is somewhat influenced by the existence of IMG Academy, but a whopping 60 percent of the top-25 prospects over the past three cycles in Florida have signed with an out-of-state school."

"The 2020 cycle is looking similar. Miami has the most top-25 players in the state committed with four, followed by Georgia (2), Clemson (2), Florida (2), Florida State (2), Alabama (1), Penn State (1), Oregon (1) and South Carolina (1). Nine prospects remain uncommitted."

"Florida can’t have elite talent from pipeline schools or locations nearby choose to commit elsewhere and expect to close the gap between the Gators and the country’s best teams — especially when it is coming off a successful season."

"Though the impact facilities have on recruiting is debatable, it’s fair to say and it’s worth mentioning that Florida is well behind its peers as it anticipates construction on a new football facility to start in June 2020. Off-field staff infrastructure is another factor, especially when the on-field staff is collectively known more for its coaching ability than recruiting prowess. Assistant director of player personnel staffers Jamar Chaney, Charlie Skalaski and Keiwan Ratliff are notable additions but they are still relatively new in their roles. Florida must overcome turnover, with former assistant director of player personnel Otis Yelverton and former director of player personnel Chuck Cantor no longer with the program, while continuing to beef up its off-the-field staff."

For those more positive mindsetters:

"Mullen and the Gators proved they can close last cycle and will likely be in a position where they must do it again. Florida landed seven of its 10 highest-rated commits for the 2019 cycle after the regular season." (Caveat, we have since lost 3 of those top rated 7 that came after the regular season)

And this year, IMG is not really a factor. The 59 top recruits in Florida this cycle are 4* or better. Only two of them are from IMG. Several schools have more than two with STA leading the way with five. Of those 59 players only five are currently committed to UF. For comparison, Willie has seven.

Not just him either.

Oh, there's a ton and it starts with their moderators. That's how they want it. You'd think we just had a hiccup the last couple of years, Dan Mullen is on par w/ Saban, there's nothing wrong w/ our facilities, Foley walks on water, and we're just a player or two away from competing with Alabama and Clemson.
