Pretty good crack at a podcast for a first-timer, and loads of interesting tidbits. I didn't know Mullen has an illegitimate black son living in Michigan. Has anyone else heard this rumor before?

I have. From what I understand, it’s a pretty contentious relationship with some deep rooted resentment of his father. Isaac, or something like that, is his name. But his friends just call him Traz.

I can't believe I missed this thread from the beginning. It is chock full of gold nuggets. Thanks for the entertainment, boys!

Sofla, you are a national treasure, who could easily make a fortune writing comedy gold for douchebags in LA.

the podcast is a solid effort, it's a man burning down his career he claims to no longer want, but so far he has had enough material to keep me listening. Now when he hits episode 10 I wonder if it will feel a little burned out of material.

Zach Smith says Urban Meyer will coach at USC

Zach Smith says Urban Meyer will coach at USC

"How about this — I’m from Dublin, Ohio and know hundreds of people, like everyone would who grew up somewhere. Coincidentally, that’s where Urban lives," Smith said at the 12-minute mark of Episode 6. "I probably know someone who either cuts your grass, works with the guy who cuts your grass or I know someone that is around you.

"Someone that I know that works in the United States Postal Service dropped a bomb on me last week. He tells me that Urban Meyer’s house has had certified mail sent to and from the University of Southern California. I’m talking several letters. I don’t know that he has communicated with them, and it’s a decent source, I would put $1000 that he would be the head coach at USC in the near future."

Yes, because these things aren't done third party to third party among emissaries.

Nope, you show your interest in a coach by sending a certified letter.

:rolleyes4:

Maybe all that certified mail between Urban and USC were payments to get his son into school there, like all those Hollywood dbags were involved in.

That’s like saying “My kid got a form letter from Virginia Tech, therefore he’s being recruited by Virginia Tech.”

I listen to Zach's poodcast and he has some good stuff on there. I was waiting on the train wreck but it never came. I am impressed with the content that he speaks about.

Stole this from TOS - from his most recent podcast:

They were talking about top coaches in CFB, and it sounds like the co-host asked about Dan Mullen at UF. Zach Smith said the following:

"The biggest thing is Dan Mullen is thrust into this conversation only because he is the coach at Florida. He would not be in this conversation based on his successes on the field, based on his resume, but he gets thrust into this group because he got the job at Florida.

"And why did he get the job at Florida? Because Florida wasn’t an attractive job. It wasn’t. I mean the stadium is not selling out anymore, they really have fallen off, the recruiting has been down to some extent, especially from the Urban Meyer era.

"So it’s like, ‘Alright, why did he get the job?’ He got the job because Scott Frost didn’t want the job. Think about that. This was a job that was top five in the country in 2005 when Urban turned down Notre Dame to go to Florida."

He later added the following....

"He didn’t have the resume to get the Florida job that Urban Meyer got in 2005. Dan Mullen had the resume to get the Florida job in 2018, or whatever it was. That’s why he got that job.

"You can talk about Dan all day long. He’s a very good offensive coach, very innovative, very smart. I don’t think he has the swagger to be a great head coach or to be a great recruiting head coach, but he’s a really good football coach. So, obviously you don’t become the head coach of Florida being a ****ty coach, but I don’t think he’s relevant to that conversation.

"It’s a lot like Jim Harbaugh. He’s had a lot of success at a lot of stops. He’s been a really, really good head coach at times, but somebody sent me this stat - I think it was the guys from the Scarlet and Gray podcast - that in the last four games of the season at Michigan, Jim Harbaugh is 7 and 9 if you combine all the last four games, because his program falls apart. And it’s also when they start playing better teams, right? They play Ohio State, he’ obviously 0-4 against them. Then they play a bowl game, so his program just falls apart at the end. 7-9 the last four games of the season out of 16 games, 7 wins."

Once again...

Co-host: “I’d be interested to hear your thoughts about Dan Mullen at Florida. He has a chance to get to that level. Why hasn’t Florida gotten back to (elite) level?”

Smith: “Yeah, we talked about that at length, and the biggest thing is Dan Mullen is thrust into this conversation only because he is the coach at Florida. He would not be in this conversation based off his successes on the field — based on his resume, but he gets thrust into this group because he got the job at Florida. Why did he get the job at Florida? Because Florida wasn’t an attractive job. It wasn’t. The stadium’s not selling out, where they have really fallen off. “I don’t think he (Mullen) has the swagger to be a great head coach or to be a great recruiting head coach, but he’s a really good football coach.”
