Any of you Tom Petty and Mike Campbell fans ever listen to Campbell's band The Dirty Knobs? Been listening for something to fill in between the old TP and the Heartbreakers and Mudcrutch songs. Like what I've heard so far...

Great guitarist.
One of the very best. Plays the solo piece in "Oh Well" better than the original IMO. I could listen to that part on a continual loop all day.

I thought about Campbell a few weeks ago, wondering what the heck would happen with him. He’s an iconic guitarist who was so tied to his iconic frontman who died early and suddenly. No more ringing out the opening riff for American Girl to a packed arena/stadium. It’s just over and who ever sang anything like Petty? (Besides Boy Elroy). It’s like Skynyrd but no sound-alike brother to run the tribute for 40+ years.

Brian May had the same predicament and after, what, 20+ years found Adam Lambert to ramp up Queen.

This is great to see, thanks. I assume he’s doing session work as well.

I know he's been playing with Fleetwood Mac. Kinda mixed reviews I guess. Seems some of their diehard fans don't like him in place of Buckingham and feel like his addition is nothing more than a ploy by the original members to keep the concerts and the cash rolling. I can't say that I've heard much of what they sound like with him added, but I've watched a little piece on how much practice he puts in to try and capture their sound. As previously stated, I think his rendition of Oh Well (guitar) sounds better than the original.

I've always thought he was about as good a guitarist/musician as there is. The fact that he grew up in Panama City (dad was stationed at Tyndal) kinda makes him a neighbor or to stretch it a bit, a hometown hero of sorts for those of us from the panhandle. I hope he keeps it going for a while.
