I was told a few years ago that when "Lemen" (that is how they say "eleven" in Tallacrappy) hung it up, that there was no way Jr. was getting the job. In fact they said there was only one reason jr. had a job. With that said, I had heard the same thing about Thompson as well as some other guys. Well I guess they struck out so to speak. They might as well have hired BOZO the CLOWN. Oh wait, they just did. :nole::nole::nole::nole::nole::nole::nole::nole::nole::nole::nole::nole::nole::nole::nole:

The Noles scored 2 runs in three CWS games (both unearned). They only had 11 total hits and I believe were 0-fer with runners in scoring position. Care to guess who their hitting coach is?

I read an article about Martin Jr. and his potential hiring and one of his main objectives, and I'm paraphrasing here, was to really emphasize the mental well-being of the players and make sure they have proper support. Wtf does that mean? Looks like he might want to concentrate on the offensive aspects of the game, among other things. Also talked about not having sent in his résumé and didn't really need to practice for the interview since he knew the program. I interpreted that he was pretty much taking it for granted that he would be next up. I guess he was right.

Best guess is that either he's crazy, the AD and hiring committee is crazy, or both. But then again, they're Noles, aren't they? One more thing from the interview that was very telling was that he said he was interested in following O'Sullivan's lead in the way to recruit including courting the best JUCO's and hiring assistants with pro ball experience. Not a bad plan, but sounds like the Gators and O'Sullivan might just be in his head. I hope we keep living there. Plenty to be happy about up Tallahassee way these days.

From an article: FSU batted .124 in Omaha (11 of 89) and their two runs in three games tied a CWS record low. Their 0-for-17 batting with runners in scoring position was the lowest by a team in at least 20 years, according to ESPN.

That's funny the softball team has a natty but Zip for baseball

And that softball title was remarkably lucky. Granted, their pitcher King was very good, but they were one out away from losing at home in the regional and again in the super regional, then had to come out of the losers bracket in OKC.

I guess Willie’s brother wasn’t available. Hopefully Junior will carry on that no winning tradition.
