"There has been an outcry from coaches and reformers about staff sizes as they relate to competitive advantage. Bowlsby said last month staff size would be one of two up-front issues to get a comprehensive look by his committee this year.

"At one point on a conference call last month, Bowlsby made reference to unnamed program that had 97 staff members.

This is probably closer to Bammer's true numbers. Climpson, Ugly, LSU, ATM, Meatchkin and OSU too.

"Freeze even has seen some of his support staff recruited, by SEC West heavyweight Alabama.

"Tyler Siskey, who helped Ole Miss land the No. 4 recruiting class in the nation in 2013, joined the Crimson Tide as an analyst a few months after his big National Signing Day effort.

"This past spring, Saban added ousted Rebels offensive coordinator Dan Werner to Alabama's support staff.

These are just contractor analysts though. Don't worry.

So we’re 7th. Right in the middle. I would say that’s par for Foley but truth be told it’s a little higher than I expected. Old tight wad loosened up his purse strings A LITTLE so we wouldn’t be at 10 or below. Please don’t misinterpret my comments as me being happy or complimentary of him. 7th SUCKS and there’s no excuse for it. I’m still pissed about how he chased Gruden off at the secret meeting at Culpepper’s house many, many years ago because he wouldn’t pony up enough cash for the assistant coaches pool.

...can we just bring back the days of passing a hot chick up the stadium seating and 'tossing' her over the top... life was so simple then
Stud, good to hear from you! Your sentiments reflect my thoughts. Part of me wants to say "Hell, Joe Lee Dunn used to stop teams with a plan he drew up on a cocktail napkin at 2:30 in the morning on game day!" But if everybody else is hiring 'beau coup' staffs, you kinda feel the need to keep up. I personally don't think the principles of the games have changed that much, but with more athletes to put in the mix to create mismatches on top of a ton of formations, fronts, stunts, blitzes, and coverages, having the films broken down and analyzed does expedite formation and implementation of the game plan. I'm not so sure some of these mega-staffs don't hide average coaching sometimes. The method to the madness is that you can get by with a great recruiter. A salesman > mechanic in some programs, if you will. I miss the days when you had to know your sh!t and that was what counted.

And, right in the middle of the pack of the SEC is where we’ve been finishing in recruiting rankings.

So we’re 7th.
Not really. The teams with huge staffs are just taking efforts to hide them, expecting the NCAA to eventually limit them in some way.

You know, they just hire contractors to analyze, for a year or two.

This is an old thread, Stud's response was from 2017.
My bad! :headslap:Wasn't reading the particulars very closely. But I don't think we've heard from @GatorStud in a while. A guy my age is always happy when somebody from my generation shows up!
