Hard to believe 1992 was over a quarter century decade ago.

This was part of my UF experience.

The Cyclist mural. Burrito Bros and Chinee Takee Outee. Wild Hair at the Eckerds plaza. The "new" North Endzone. The Porpoise. The Dog. Pike house with fire engine. Goerings (hippy book store). Leonardo's is there. Target was a copy center. Newly named Smathers libraries.

I might have missed them in the video but there was an all-you-can-eat pizza place called Lord Munchies (might have closed before '92), Joe's was there, Krystals, and the Burger King. No Swamp though (just the burned out Chaucer's). Might have been before Balls and Copper Monkey too.

A little nostalgia. All it needs is the Running Man and some zombie student trying to hand out copies of the yellow Thrifty Nickel.

Farrah’s on the Avenue, which in 92 still had my favorite wings to this day with Wednesday night’s being $5 pitcher of beer AND 10 wings, just up the block from the Holiday Inn... and they were the old style big pitchers. Good times. And if we’re talking 92, you can’t say “Porpoise” without saying “Mullet” too!

Amazing how rare video of anything is even from 1992 timeframe. Kids nowadays have their whole lives on video. I don’t think I have video of anything that happened prior to my late 30s. Which is undoubtedly a good thing in my case.

Thanks for sharing. Funny how old everything looks, and yet I still think of the north end zone as being new because when I was there we could look right in the stadium from our fraternity house.

Alex.

The year Mrs. G and I were married. When we would go visit her folks in St Pete we’d usually hit Joe’s on the way back. My intro to Gainesville. Future Gator and I will be there tonight through Tuesday.

Really cool. I arrived on scene a short 4 years later and it was already way different than that video.

There was so much excitement surrounding the football program in ‘92, like we were just getting started...

And I joined the CG that summer.

Farrah’s wings are still the high bar for me as well, 30 years later.

My time there as well.

Wasn't there a bicycle shop on the corner where the mural was?

Same here, man I used to love me some Maui Teriyaki. Who could forget wild hair. Five bucks and I’d get a haircut. Leonardo’s brings back memories of good pizza and oddly enough both macro and micro economics. Fun times

100% concur of Farrah’s wings. Big and rendolent of butter. Best wings in town and still among the best wings ever. I had two DPhiE roommates that waitressed there when I started law school.

After graduating, our Homecoming tradition for years was to get to Farrah’s early, get wings, and watch the parade go by.

It’s 1992, not 1972.

Alex.
Unlike all you carpet baggers I am a resident of this area and never left. Got here in 61 and still here. I can be in downtown Gville in minutes. Always have been. In fact I drove through campus yesterday to show my 12 yr old the College of Journalism. She says that is where she is going. Funny thing is it across from my old college in FLa Gym. College of Health and Human Performance (new name).

Fine food. We had one off of Tower Road near Napolatanos............I swear they had those bowls for $3 and all the terriyaki sauce you could
put on it..........I loved it. Then of course the Nappys wings delivered on game day (away games).

The Copper Monkey was there in the mid 80s 2nd floor of the UF Plaza. The rarest thing in the video is the pay phone in front of the Porpoise, that’s something you never see anymore.
