And after his HOF Induction.

"Thank you for all of the good wishes about the Hall of Fame…need to say a special hello to my Gator Nation. I sincerely, sincerely apologize for not mentioning you last night in my Hall of Fame speech, Gator Nation. I just got caught up in everything. Pleaase charge it to my mind, not my heart! Once a Gator always a Gator. I loved everything the University of Florida gave me".

“Technically my speech was supposed to be less than 20 minutes, so I stretched it out to 24…and I forgot one most important ingredients: my Gator Nation. And I sincerely apologize for not recognizing the University of Florida and Urban Meyer and Jeremy Foley and all of the Gator Nation. Because the Gator Nation truly helped me get on the platform on the collegiate level which led to where I’m at right now here in Canton.”

Emmitt is thrilled that EJ got an offer from UF because he will get a big kick out of having EJ show us his middle finger when he signs with UGA or POSU or anybody other than UF.

It will be very telling about Emmitt's feelings when Junior commits somewhere. If he ends up at Ugly, or anywhere else in the SEC east then clearly the feelings towards his Alma Mater are not very good. If he ends up in somewhere in Texas, close to home, or Stanford, arguably the best academic school in the country that also has a decent football program, then perhaps not. If he ends up being a Gator, than clearly he holds no ill will. I suspect it will be pretty obvious the answer when he starts to schedule his OV's. To answer the thread's initial question, yes I think he's worth it. Looks like he's a good back and him being Emmitt's son will eventually cease to be much of a factor, or at least no more than Kelvin Taylor being Fred's son was. If he does come here, lets just hope he's closer to his Dad in talent than Kelvin was to his dad!

He's the ONLY former Gator that feels like he never even played here. There's a bad disconnect. Wearing the Uga hat was just plain dumb. The video above shows that he knows he messed up.

Wasn't Emmitt also a no show at the Ring of Honor ceremony we had a few years ago? When even Spurrier managed to make it while being a head coach at another school? Or do I have that wrong? I honestly can't remember now, but seems like Emmitt was a no show for it.

In a 24 minute speech, how long would it have taken to give a shout out to the University of Florida and Gator Nation? 30 seconds? The fact that he never mentioned it was intentional in my opinion.

He read from prepared notes, like every damn person does when making a speech. Obviously, UF was left out of those notes. It was not an oversight. I think he got some grief for it afterwards by some Gator fans and did this shout-out thing to appease them. Better than nothing I guess, but it's obvious he doesn't have a lot of love for UF.

Emmitt strikes me as the kind of guy that would help his kid choose a school based on what was best for his kid regardless of his allegiances. I think it probably helps our case that Emmitt's godson Austin Perry who is also very likely good friends with EJ is a redshirt sophomore on our team. Beyond that I don't think where EJ ends up playing is a very accurate reflection on Emmitt's feelings about his alma mater or anything else beyond a concern for his son's best interests. I also have never gotten any impression from Emmitt that he is remotely shallow enough to hold grudges over issues with UF from his college days where everyone in every role involved has moved on several times over since then.
