The newest iteration of the iconic Corvette Stingray is so new, so bold, so highly sought already that I thought it deserved its own thread.

Finally, a mid-engine Corvette. Chevrolet didn't disappoint. Totally redesigned, the fastest and best-balanced Corvette ever. All for under 60k if optioned right. That's nuts.

Welcome the C8.

I've been following this one on another forum for awhile now. It looks like a hell of a car for the money.

Game changer for sure but realistically to meet the "claimed" 0-60 in 3.0 and track suspension/brake upgrades , Z51 3LT it will cost a tick under $80K before T&T. On top of that despite internet rumors I'll bet Chevy dealers put a $5-10K admin fee on it too.
Time will tell what mass production(30-40K) units does to the quality. Hope GM is up to the task.

The base model can be had for under $60k assuming no dealer markups.

Still very fast and is the best car for the dollar where speed and performance are concerned.

And you're getting one helluva car. You can't even get into a base 718 Cayman at that price. A lot of Porschefiles are taking notice.

Yeah poor Toyota just got a kick in the nuts with the new Supra and Ford has to be a little embarrassed since a well equipped Mustang GT is now over 50K let alone a GT350R(75k) and 100K for the Track package GT500....Not to mention the new Vette in Z51 trim will perform neck and neck with a $400K Ford GT....:headslap:

Of course they will. They did with the C7, those markups didn't take long to fizzle out. Wait a quarter or two and build one with factory delivery. I'm considering it. It's a hell of a car for the $.

Same when the new Raptors came out in 2018... $10-$20K dealer markups well into that first year. And like the Raptor, I'd wait a full year on this Vette for teething issues, but it is hands down the best looking one in 50 years. With this one, "50 year old balding with a paunch mid-life crisis dude with trophy wife" stereotype be damned, i'd buy one.

It has to do with production numbers...GM typically "overbuilds" Corvettes, making 30-40K a year. This is why anyone looking for the "old" C7 should see their dealer. They are currently saddled with 2017&2018 C7's that can be had in the high 40's for a Stingray and I've even heard of Z06's in the 70's....
I called my Ford dealer to ask if they would sell me one of their allocations for a base 2020 GT500 for MSRP and they told me to pound sand...10K adm or bust....such is life when they're only making 5000 units.

I'm sure the production numbers for the ZR1 are low, too.

No doubt....but a ZR1 will be more than 2.5X the base 60K. On another note this whole thing is making me become a fan of low mileage 2 or 3 year old ZO6's in about 6 month's....

There are brand new 2018 Z06's available still at a considerable discount.

But, once you go mid engined its hard to go back. I'd wait a year and get a C8 at a discount.

That's what I believe smart people will do. That being said if you can get past having the latest and greatest(mid engine) and don't track your cars a C7 ZO6 offers nearly supercar type performance and my guess is you'll be able to pick up a lightly used 2016-2017 model in the 40's by this time next year...Those poor owners are going to take a beating when they trade or sell their cars.

The same scenario happened in 2016 when the Shelby GT350 came out. I bought my 2009 Shelby GT500, 9200 miles and every performance mod you can put on it, for under 30K. It had just been traded on a new GT350.... I love performance cars but I really love them when they're half the price of new and have less than 10-15K on the odometer.

Agreed on the mid engine comment. If you really know how to drive, it’s kinda like crack... probably best not to ever drive one of you can’t afford the habit

Hopefully next year I'll be in the market for a C8. I miss a mid engined car, there's nothing like having the motor behind you. I need to see a C8 in person but the pics are pretty sharp.

Crete agreed on the 1/2 price program. My last couple sports cars were depreciated Ferraris. I bought the first one, drove it a lot for about 4 years and sold it for what I paid for it. So, I had a Ferrari for a few thousand bucks in maintenance and insurance. Second one is a different story I actually made money on it.
