What's the advantage of the shorter motion? Less strip sacks/ball gets out faster?

Does it not necessarily mean less power?
Less time for incredibly athletic DBs to jump your passes and take them away.

Yes it means less power. That's why even the Grier and Grossmans (very quick releases) wind up for a hail mary.

His problem is that he inhales when taking the ball back when he should exhale.

The long and short of it are this, Franks is actually more accurate when throwing 15 yards or more down the field than shorter passes. Some don't like to mention it but he threw some absolute darts 15-30 yards downfield last year...the trade off is with a longer wind up his timing is a little behind or off when throwing screens or side way passes and it times it can throw the play off slightly limiting it's effectiveness.

I don't care if he throws the ball behind his back as long as it works.....

85% behind the line versus 39% 10 plus yards downfield)

Observant points all about Feleipe's wind-up delivery.

That wasn't the point of the thread.

It was about the low positioning of his arm upon delivery and how he escaped criticism where Tebow didn't.

Of course anyone's percentage is going to go down the longer the pass is. Just because you complete a WR screen behind the LOS and the WR has to jump out of the building to catch it though doesn't mean it's an effective play because by the time he catches it and lands he likely to already being in the grasp of a defensive player....yeah it's complete....for a 1 yard gain. Or a 4 yard slant that is thrown in the dirt....4 yard completion vs. hitting the slot in stride and him getting 10-12 yards....The fact of the matter is Franks was behind or off mark enough to hinder the short passing game last year....There is literal truth and then there is practical truth.

I wonder when that top pick was taken. I have said for a long time Framks looks like he is throwi g from centerfield to home plate. Late last season he turned into a passer and not a thrower. High release, planty of wrist action, actually passing the ball. He looked damn good the last 3 games.

I coach my dbs not to break on the ball until the qb breaks his hands. The shorter that is to throwing, the less time the db has to react. The qb an help this by keeping 2 hans on the ball, up high, closer to the wind up and release point. Bringing from the chest takes a long time.

Did Danny play baseball? It seems that the long, low motion is a baseball throw converted to throw a football. Timmy and FF both were big baseball players - pitchers I believe?
No, Danny didn't play baseball past little league. But he was actually one hell of a basketball player believe it or not.

I mean I think it's kind of obvious if that was the point of the thread. He's escaped the same scrutiny because Franks isn't the greatest player to ever play the college game. The experts and anybody really just wanted something to critique Tebow's game. He was pretty flawless otherwise.

Look, I'm not going to go back and find all of my posts mentioning him sidearming or 3/4ing it, because I don't care and because it is probably hard to search.

That being said, how the fvkk do you say Franks escaped criticism of ANYTHING? It's easier to discuss the things that haven't been criticized on Franks, and I don't know how long it would take for me to think of one. I'm not saying hasn't deserved criticism, just it's hard to say Tebow was and he wasn't.

I’m guessing 78 was referring to national criticism (bspn, etc), not criticism from the Gator fan base.
