The only downfall to taking cox is it might be weird having an actual linebacker on the team. Who cares if it's a transfer or were transfer U?It beats 3star u or dru or the flipper.

Having watched some interviews Kirby is trying really hard to cast Georgia as a high character team, comparing Fromm to Tebow at SEC media days and having Fromm talk about his pastor and Christian Faith at SEC media days. He even made that comment after the Florida game last year about how Georgia’s win showed that his team has character. He’s trying to emulate Dabo’s recruiting strategy IMO.

Taking Cox could come back to bite us.

This is totally true.

Well, at least true if by linebacker, you really mean undersized edge rusher. Yes, thank god we’ll get another one of those, but this one with baggage and Dwag stink on him.

While listed in some places as an OLB, that is for a true 3-4. Some sites listed him as a defensive end, but everything refers to him as a pass rusher or pass rush specialist. His rivals camp videos and HS clips all have him running around OTs. We would be taking yet another player at our most crowded spot - unless he can grow into a 285+ true defensive end (he has the height I guess). And take a hit in reputation and recruiting to do it.

Hope this news of us taking him is wrong (the Twitter follows suggest we want to though) or that the back story on Cox is just way off. At least one paper said they requested some records and only the weed possession showed up. So, maybe, but why was he just kicked off the team abruptly during fall camp if he didn’t f something up pretty badly?

I hate to say trust the coaches on anything, but I just can't imagine they take him if there is anything beyond pot possession and maybe a small attitude issue. UF just does not want the baggage and they really don't care if it costs them championships, which to some extent I support despite the protests of many here.

I do hate the leghumper stink though.

With regards to Cox, I’m not sure at this stage he’s any different than a possible character concern recruit, which we take all the time. His enrollment in uga isn’t ideal, but unfortunately I think this is the new reality. I’ve been adamant about how bad the portal and easing of transfer rules is for college football. To me, if you sign as a bulldog, you’re a bulldog, not a Gator. If you sign as a Gator, you’re a Gator, not a Trojan. Or you go to FCS.

But it’s here. And it’s going to burn us(as it has). So if we assume some moral high ground and insist that we want nothing to do with it, we’ll simply be left behind as other teams fill positions of need and we just watch our roster leave at will.

I don’t like it, but there’s no way we can not play this game unfortunately, regardless of where he’s been. If we land him, run him through a car wash, dip him in Lake Alice, and give him a flea collar. If nothing else, he’ll want more than anything to stomp his former team in Jax, a mindset we need.
