Congrats on your win. My mojo & juju nearly worked but the Gators were the better team. Geez, had Baxa made that field goal there would have been only 1 point difference. I thought Miami looked better than I had anticipated. Hopefully our OL will improve as I don't think they can get too much worse. ***special note to Swamp Donkey......I think we picked the right guy for HC and at least your team didn't put 50 on us and we scored 20 points. Pretty fair for a RS freshman QB and first year coaches, etc.

As expected with the first game of the season, lots of fumbling, bumbling and sloppy performance by both teams. Sorry, but I don't think Franks is Heisman quality, but he does seem to love the cameras.

I feel both of our teams will greatly improve by the 2nd game of the year. Good luck the rest of the season from an old Cane lady.

It was sloppy on both sides, but kind of excusable for Miami. New coach. New QB. New offensive line.

I'm just relieved. And thanks for the sentiments.

I think it's unfair to grade either team on the first game it's a hard situation to be in a game against a power 5 to start the year. But you guys should have a great season this was probably your hardest game until the acc championship

I truly believe if we could've just punched that ball in from the 7 instead of handing the ball to the Canes, the game would've turned into a comfortable win for us. Got to believe we can't play more sloppier than this. I'll take the win all day and especially against the Canes.

Thanks for the congrats.

No Power 5 team should look that sloppy, at any point in the season. We played like a turd, the canes like a full pile. Relieved to escape with the W.

As for your sentiments towards your HC, i am happy that you are happy, personally i think you have your version Chump, which is great for us, look foward to winning the home & home series coming up.

Thanks for the sentiments. I can't say how well MIA will progress this season or the next ones under Diaz, but I'm hoping he's still there for the Home-Home in '24-'25 as I think we'll have progressed further. Either way, I hope to never, ever see another crap game like this again, against anyone.

We go up 14-3 and there was a good chance the game becomes a rout

The U:

Your Coach is an improvement.
Your QB is better than I thought...Cool under pressure
Your OL is BAD...Long Season
Y'all are fast

You take those fumbles away...This game is not even close.

Thanks for the congrats. Hard fight on both sides by two teams that forgot how to play good football. Neither deserved to win, glad we squeeked it out after trying so hard to give the game away.

After rewatching the game, it was sloppy, but not as bad as we made it out to be immediately afterwards. There were definitely areas that need improvement (tackling, run blocking, clock management/play calling), but there were a lot of positives for the Gators (big play capability, pass rush, resilience, conditioning). It will be a blessing in disguise that we are able to correct these things after a hard fought rivalry game.

Franks may be what he is, but he will improve as the season goes along. It was good to see him throw that bomb to Hammond after the interception. That fearlessness will pay dividends down the line. He will manage the game better as the season progresses.

Miami is much better than many are willing to admit and their young QB surprised me. They will be a decent squad if they build around him and continue to recruit/play well defensively. Diaz will prove to be a solid hire. I won’t be surprised if Miami is still only a 1 loss team in a few months with a favorable schedule.

Thanks for the classy post, DaytonaCane. Good luck the rest of the season.
