Can Franks hold on to the Number 1 QB spot?

Agree with you 100% on booing Gators. Due to a bunch of circumstances I haven’t been to a game at BHG in a while, but now with a son at UF we will make two games this year. (We also made the Peach Bowl last year.) At home I’ll yell at the TV, but in person I can’t boo a college player unless it’s an opponent who makes a dirty play. To me, they’re just kids.

Good post. That’s what some don’t get. I’ll defend our guys all day long on here. But during a game I’m probably as vocal or more than most. I just think when you trash one of our guys worse than a Nole does it’s over the top. To each his own I guess.

Another good question to ask right now is if Trevor Lawrence will be able hold on to his spot after that GT game

“The other two turnovers were interceptions by QB Trevor Lawrence, including a bad pass at the end of the half. While that put Lawrence halfway to his 2018 interception total of four, there’s no need to get worried. Some regression was to be expected.”

Yeah, Blonde Teflon Boy gets a figurative pass whilst Fuzzy Flypaper Boy is bonfire marshmellowed

It’s just the over the top personal stuff that’s indefensible in my opinion.

Yep, I'm with Marine1. Franks' athletic disappoints do not cross over to contaminate the person he is.

... and they are kids set on bringing us enjoyment, bringing us school pride ...... or else.

I don't boo my team or our players. But I think it's important to try to be objective, as least as much as a Gator homer can be. And it seems clear to me that Felipe Franks is the best QB we have right now. However, he's not good enough to lead our team to any kind of championship IMO. You put Fromm, Lawrence, Tua, Hurts, Herbert and any other of the 5-6 more top tier D1 QB's on the Gator team and we would be a serious contender. But in today's college football, you can't win a title with a "game-manager" nor with someone as inconsistent as Franks. I pull for the kid and hope each game he gets better. And I know it was just Game 1 and we won, but it sure didn't look like he took the dramatic step forward that was being hyped before the season started. Time will tell, though, and I'm pulling for him.

Wait, I thought it was just the mean old fans unjustly attacking a poor college kid? National media seems to be taking issue with his antics. @Marine1 is needed for an assessment.

Franks’ biggest problem is that he’s a douchebag. The earlier comparison to Doug J. was on point. He was a dbag too.

Everybody reacts to intense pressure differently, off-times in douchey ways. Look how GCMB is reacting to having a stumbling QB.

Gladly. Didn’t know you were such a fan of Herbie, btw.

Immaturity was a red herring. He talked about leadership. Who is he leading....the fans or his teammates? We all know how his teammates feel.

Remember the days when Gator fans shredded any media who disrespected our team or players? I do. Now we kneel at the alter of this clown. F him.

I’ve always like Herbie. Bit of a homer but who isn’t?

Regarding leadership... you should know better than most that he’s not just leading his teammates. Whether he likes it or not, he’s a representative of the university as well. That’s a leadership position too. He’s failing miserably at it.

His antics are immature but tremendously overblown. Murder, beating up girls, credit card fraud far exceed FF shushing you or telling UM fans to shut the **** up. I think the kid has figured out there is nothing he can do to change your mind so he’s just going to be himself and play for his teammates.

If or when EJ takes his job he may wish he was able to ignore the hate. Until then I don’t think he cares.

The % of Gator fans doing that was so small you'd need a microscope to see it.

My point is that he backed up whatever he did on the field. If Franks wants everyone to STFU, then he needs to PLAY better. Unfortunately, he's a terrible fit for the offense and I can't see that changing.
Franks is only 1 game into his 2nd year of actual college-level coaching. What he did well in that first game was pretty good; what he did poorly was pretty bad. Bottom line: we won. We're 1-0 going into the 2nd game of his 2nd year of actual college-level coaching. I can understand a certain level of criticism, but let's not get carried away. Maturation will come. He's our qb. I'm pulling for the guy.

Edit: I might pay more attention to any comments by Herbie about maturity when he quits wrecking other guys' marriages.

Ridiculous post. Your standard for whether they are doing well as a leader is whether or not their teammates like them and if they are avoiding felonies? Come on, you know that’s stupid. My bar for acceptable behavior is so far above felonies I don’t even think about it. I want my QB setting the example for his teammates and comporting himself well in the spotlight - that’s why he goes to media days and talks to the media after games. He’s representing the team and school, just like Mullen.

I hope FF plays well enough to silence his critics, not that EJ takes over. I also hope he matures into an average CFB player - how many guys do you see out of the thousands of football players in CFB act like him? He’s a joke when he does that and you know it. Heck, I caught flack last night on a CU board from CSU and CU fans for how he acts. Think about that - why would they care unless it stands out?

Didn't know what you were referring to so I did a search. Came across something about the Columbus policeman's wife. More troubling though is the rumor about Erin Andrews and Herbie. Ewww.
