Good call on Dougie - maybe takes too big of a hit for not being national championship caliber, but definitely had the arm for it.

I thought Dougie was natty caliber ... his timing with SOS was just off imo. He and Rex had a lot in common in that they were players ... gunslingers. I think SOS did a victory lap year after the natty and didn't get it going again until 2001.

Wuerffel put the ball within an inch of where it needed to be.....best by far!

Danny's shotput style of throwing got the job done to the point of winning everything, however, it was about 1000 miles from a pretty ball.

How about John Reaves? I was at that Houston game in '69 and saw that Reaves to Alvarez long TD pass that started the rout of the Playboy #1 team in the nation. I saw Reaves play a lot during those years and he threw a very nice ball.

Absolutely! That's why I had him in the OP! The fact that he came back and specifically worked with Shane is a tasty cherry on the sundae! I knew someone else appreciated him!

I was just a lad at Southwest Elementary in Lakeland when Wayne Peace was a local star -- but never saw him live at Florida Field - how was he as a passer because he was revered in Lakeland at the time.

Nobody threw a prettier fade for a TD than Danny. But he threw an ugly ball ... wounded ducks. They were accurate and on time. He was special because he understood exactly what SOS wanted to happend and he executed it perfectly. He had patience to not get bent out of shape with SOS criticisms (Dougie's downfall) then go out and try again. But he threw some ugly passes that normally were caught.

I watched him. He was a overall above average player but was not spectacular at anything. I dont remember his passing being the best but I dont remember ever complaining about it.

I think Rex threw the best ball. Leak is second on my list. Leak's passes looked beautiful, but they lacked zip, and at times would float a little too long.

Some others have mentioned that Leak would have done well under Spurrier. No doubt about it. If Spurrier had Leak as his QB during the Johnson/Brindise/Palmer years, I think he would've won more than 1 national title. Leak was very coachable and very accurate. Those two QB qualities were what mattered most to the HBC.

Grossman threw a beautiful pass.

Wuerffel’s passes, dropped in tight spaces where only our receiver could catch them, were a thing of beauty.

Clearly not the same caliber QB as some of the aforementioned but Jesse threw a pretty nice ball. Tight spiral with decent velo.

Danny? The dude put the ball where it needed to go, but it was anything but pretty.
Maybe I'm forgetting how well (or not) he could spin the ball because of his precision. In particular, nobody could throw a better fade route than Danny.

Chris Leak threw the most beautiful spirals I've ever seen out of any quarterback. Did anyone ever drop a pass he threw? I feel like it would be impossible to drop one of those.
