I was told many times here that because he was a Gator and because he once limped over the goal line against Auburn that he would return our offense to the glory days of old.

I read on another board that Charlie is running a Buttersesque sh*tshow over at USF; no structure, practices are planned at the last minute via text messages, and there's very little discipline. I'm afraid that Kerwin hitched himself to a sinking ship.

Kerwin has known Charlie since they were both under Hall (Charlie as a GA and Bell as a player) I'm sure that friendship played into him going there.

They scored a touchdown! :faint:

Final score: GT 14, USF 10

Tech's 76 passing yards were just too much to overcome.

Stats for USF: 169 passing, 93 rushing.

Didn't UF lose to a team with less than a yard passing? What do both have in common, defense/conservative head coaches.

That’s what happens when you hire defensive head coaches. They let inferior teams hang around and it comes back to bite them in the ass, unlike Spurrier, who would bury teams early, giving them no hope at all of getting a lucky bounce that would help them win the game.

It is confusing to me that, as in this case, Kerwin has started so utterly bad, non-productive. I mean, this is how the entire system of career advancement works. Bell's offenses at Valdosta State worked fine. (I bet Kerwin will succeed even with a couple of stalled years.) Many coaches careers start with doubts, but most all of them march onward with "getting better". It's been 2 games; how did Frost's first 2,3,4 games at Nebraska look if we judge him on his startup?

I’ve never been totally comfortable with that theory. Hell the single most successful HCs in college and the pros over the last ten years are both defensive guys (and both Croatian oddly enough). I think when defensive guys forget the object of the game is to score points is when they fail. So far this season, it looks like Orgeron has finally figured that out. In general though, Offensive guys do tend to win more championships.

Yep...kind of like the Miami game this year...if we score a TD instead of an unforced fumble on the exchange I think we bury them...that lucky break really energized them

I might be delusional but I think Kerwin's issues are more Charlie Strong's.
